That article strikes me as a load of old bollocks. When it said 'a seizure, according to wikipedia', I decided it couldn't be taken seriously. Ricky is as much a candidate for Parkinson's as any other boxer who's been brutally KO'd.

Before I started reading this article I told myself "I wonder if it was written by someone in the Philippines or a hardcore PacFanBoy"...bingo!
What's next? We will hear news that Pac was going to open the door of his car and pulled it all off "by accident" because he's just that amazingly strong and can't control his SuperMan strength or that his house was blown away as he blew his birthday candles.![]()

retarded and plain stupid
Anyone who works in the medical proffession will tell you you dont walk about 5 minutes after suffering a seizure and you definitely dont instantanionsly become a sufferer of parkinsons disease
this guys a dick
one dangerous horrible bloke
the news source itself are fraud according to my cousins from Manila.. the most hated channel in there i think ABSCBN..
Hell the article doesn't even go into any medical detail on really what a seizure is. I am no expert except that I have had a few of them, and basically it is like a lightning storm passing through your brain and setting of nerve impulses through out your body. Hence the uncontrollable shaking one sees in a typical seizure and the incoherence shown by the person suffering one.
Basically Hatton suffered a massive concussion not a seizure.

well ur cousin is obviously a "kapuso" slogan of gma 7 they are equivalent to pac nuthuggers. i hate to say this but gma7 vs abs2 is just a thing for class d-e people. a,b,c people watch cable.![]()
i saw this doctor on TV he is just there watching the fight just for the sake of it. he commented about the KO and thats it its not like its a 30min detailed explanation of the whole thing.
whoever wrote that suffers from writers block who cant think of anything with sense to talk about.
only time will tell.
Actually you can be walking around after having a seizure, especially micro seizures.
Sorry how many of you have medical degrees? And how many of you have read extensively on neurologists studies of brain trauma? Boxing is terrible for the brain, I stil watch it because I love the sport, and these guys are making enough money IMO to compensate for the risks involved.
The article may be rubbish, but Ricky Hatton does not need boxing anymore, he has shown he was a upper level fighter who only lost to the very best of his era, what else is there to prove?
Take your millions back to Manchester Ricky, make up with Billy, and spend the rest of your life talking of your excellent achievements, whilst supping down a few Guinness'!
"Boxing is like jazz. The better it is, the less people appreciate it."

It ridiculous thing to even suggest. Fighters get knocked out all the time. Most more than two times in their careers. The kind of damage that causes Parkinsons, which is pretty rare in fighters to begin with, is accomulated damage usually from fighting on too long. Ive seen guys get taken out on a stretcher and most of them should retire, some fighters who had a damaging career end up with some form brain damage, but Parkinson? Rarely. Its not any more likely for Ricky than most veteran fighters.

The Article is obviously bogus!
However, my son hit his head on the tile floor, about a 5 foot fall. We thought he was ok. A day later my wife asked my to look at him and we noticed he was experiencing paralysis on the left side his face and had a slur in his speech. He was treated in the hospital fro 17 days due to his brain swelling and bleeding. (A Subdural Hematoma) Scared the hell out of me and I had to understand it. My son recovered completely but although hardly noticeable there is still a slight change in his pronunciations. Follow ups reveal a scar on his brain.
This is exactly the type of damage that can occur from most any blow to the head. Basically a seizure is what happens when brain signals don't reach where they are intended to go. While we don't know for sure if Hatton experienced a seizure or not, he certainly experienced enough impact to his brain for him to lose complete consciousness. Unless involuntary unconsciousness (KO) is another definition for a seizure.
There is not enough knowledge about the short term to long term causes and effects of brain injuries to be able to say for certain whether or not fighters will experience neurological diseases in the future from blows such as the one received by Hatton. If I were say that to a Neurologist, he'd probably say I was an idiot!![]()
