You've got to go with the first Tyson fight. Being written off after the third Bowe fight. So they figure what the hell he's all washed up now. My god what a performance.

Love the Bowe fights, but the first Tyson fight had me on the edge of my seat and will forever remain one of my greatest memories of watching boxing.

wasnt a prime tyson he beat though was it??
It was a guy who had come out of prison, had aged a good few years and was always gonna be beatable to anyone who could get the fight beyond the 3rd round.
It was an incredible performance from evander but it wasnt like he was totally written off ala:douglas. Many within the game who had followed holyfield throughout his career gave him a chance!!

I know but as a kid, when I saw Tyson walk to the ring he had that invincible aura around him, and I saw no way Holyfield was gunna win. It was just stunning to see Tyson forced to look so humble by a guy many said was passed his best. I have the Bowe fights and Tyson fights on DVD and even in the Bowe fights the commontators were saying Holyfield was passed his best and should retire. The commontators said it in the 1st Tyson fight too. I remember them saying a shitload of late money got put on a Tyson first round KO. For me I found the performance stunning, that Holyfield could take the shots and come back with better.
I was a kid though, and your memories always stand out as being more nostalgic as a child. Its one of my favourite moments in boxing.

thats too true
i was only about 13 at the time and naturally didnt get up to watch it live but when it came on the news the next morning every single person in my household was completely gob smacked as the media made it appear as if it was a routine tyson blowout.
Evander didnt half have to take some punishment that night though. kinda like how margacheato did against cotto

Think I was 11 at the time and my dad stayed up to watch it so he let me stay up as well. I remember the whole judgement night card that sky put on. Frank Warren show topped by Collins-Benn that had Naz, Robin Reid & Winky Wright fighting Ensley Bingham on the undercard and then we crossed to Vegas to see 3 Heavyweight title fights in Akinwande vs. some Russian dude, Moorer vs. Botha and then Tyson vs. Holyfield. I miss the days when your money bout you a PPV card that good.
Array
ive heard that card mentioned on here a few times - that must of been some night for your regular fight fan.
Remember staying up till 4 in the morning to watch lewis-bruno at a sold out cardiff arms park and they must of had at least 7 top quality fights that night.
If sky had billed hatton-pacquiao with khan-kotelnik, enzo mac, rogan-sexton i and many others would happily of paid a good 30 quid to book that (had i not of been in vegas of course)!!

Evander Holyfield vs Michael Dokes was the best heavyweight fight I've seen...I'm surprised nobody mentioned that fight before..

Beating Tyson and Bowe was great but his KO over Adilison Rodrigez was special.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

all three Bowe fights - can't believe Bowe survived that knockdown in III, he looked done.
and of course Tyson I
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate

No doubt.Rodriquez looked like he was frozen in place, just pulverized......he was really jabbing Holyfield goofy in the opening & then Boooom!Out & done
some favs
Dokes.....great gritty war.
Mercer....Mercer comes in in top form and boxes very well, then a cut Holyfield roars back and explodes on him, making him take a knee for solid win.
Tyson 1....could not find anyone outside of Don Turner picking Holyfield. The talking heads were openly saying he ran a good chance of being injured badly. One of the most comprehensive break downs of a fighter.
Lewis 2....can u say judge reimbursement.Thought he took it
Bowe 1....hated the weight, game plan went out the window after nasty 1st round exchange....not smart as his brawn took over and told his brain to sit down and STFU.Classic battle
Qawi 1....true coming of age.Sensational classic
Foreman....hardy ever gets mention But he put on a great boxing plan.Kept his head,Foreman almost caved him in with monster body shot, winded late but like that one
Moorer 2....bounces Michael around like a red rubber ball.Brutal uppercuts but Moorer shows huge brass climbing up for more.
Vaughn Bean and Larry Donald......just kidding, tricky guys but these were nauseating

You done well to get 1/22 on Tyson; as I had a tenner on Holyfield at 24/1, which I guess makes Tyson at least 1/28....
As for the thread:
I always liked the first Qawi fight; then Dokes and the first Stewart fight. I was also impressed with the Parkey fight, when he showed perhaps for the first time that the talk of the move to Heavyweight, maybe a success.....![]()

I am a huge Holyfeild fan he has had such great fights hard for me to choose them i think somtimes people can forget how good Evander Hoilyfeild was because he has fought on so much past prime. I have to think on what fight i would pick as my fav its going to be hard.
Bobby Chaz.
