Everybody is self-promoting now?

What exactly do promoters even do tho Negotiate? because isn't that what the lawyers do...I always just thought of promoters as leeches.

Promoters are the guys that put up the money for the events. That explains why their interests aren't always the interests of the boxers themselves.

Put up the money for the show in what sense, rent the arena and such? How's hbo/showtime fit in all of it?

Costs of venue, ticket sales, boxers purses, refs fee etc.
I'm not sure exactly how the TV part works, but I would
imagine there is a negotiation for the revenue drawn from
said event. HBO/SKY etc. to my knowledge don't pay for
events.
