Actually Cotto is 2 inches taller and has 2 inches more in reach, Cotto is much bigger than Hatton I don't see what you are basing Hatton being stronger on. I hear what you are saying about Hatton's workrate, but like I said I believe Cotto could outtime Hatton all night long. At 140 Hatton to strong for me, 147 things get tough, i think Cotto is naturally bigger, but Hatton is stronger at 140 than Cotto.
The only opponent that they have both faced (that I know of) was Carlos Maussa both at 140, and Cotto knocked him out a round quicker, that is the only judgement I can honestly make on their strength without it being speculation.

Them late rounds of Hatton pounding away wont do any favours to the weight drained Cotto at 140.
Weight drained Cotto 23 of his 26 fights were at 140......
