Just caught a download of the fight. Wasn't bad. Kept me entertained. Mundine doesn't look good at 160.

Here's a link to a local news story.

That was a really good fight & although Mundine won, Geale showed himself to be world class imo

BTW I'm glad Gurr got his mouth shut. I'm a kiwi but that a**hole was giving us a bad name! What a dick!!!

I also think age is starting to catch up with Mundine, he is 34yrs old!
If he gets in the ring with Pavlik he will be annihilated!
I think you are right, he didnt look very fit to me last night either. He looked like he was fucked after the 3rd round. They were smothering him with water in the corner, i think he might need to go back to 168 and try and fight Froch or someone.

He just did dude. Geale is a very good fighter, and was defending his world title. I know Mundine has fought some silly fights and i've been critical of that with him but I guess he was keeping busy. This was a good fight and against a world champ. Geale won the vacant title against another good fighter Daniel Dawson and it was Dawsons only loss in his 35 pro fights with 24 ko's under his belt. I know they are not well known but they are very good quality fighters and this win should be congratulated.

You being serious World Title? The shitty IBO, please Mundine is a fraud mate hes been milking the Oz market for far to long if he was serious about being a proper world class fighter he would of fought someone in the last three years, he has been exposed twice though by Ottke and Kesler so you cant blame him.

I was there, ringside, and can comprehensively say that Mundine did not win that fight.
He has not earned the title, nor the win in my opinion.

It sounds like Mundine can't get fights at 168 so is draining himself to make 160, I don't think he will be successful at that weight and it's only gonna take years off him like it did Roy Jones Jr.

How coincidental that he is trained by Roy's father

Mate I agree with most of what you say but a few points of argument. Mundine was doing very well against Ottke and was probably winning the fight untill the KO but it was very early on in his fight career. I agree he struggled against Kessler but he gave an ok fight. He looked a bit gun shy to me though. He also lost to Manny Siacca I think in a similar way to how he lost to Kessler. But the comment was more about Geale than Mundine. I was personally hoping Geale would pull off a win, i like him much more than Mundine and believe he could achieve a lot in the sport and do a lot for it's appeal here. Geale is a quality fighter and I hope he goes on to bigger and better things than Mundine. There's no doubt Mundine is at the end of his career so he's trying to milk all he can and I agree that his boxing can't catch up with his mouth unfortunately. He will have to back it up now he is moving to the US to fight and if he does great if not no surprise there. I would much prefer Geale to do well get well known and win a real title. My issue was with Geale being called no-one. He's not.

Anyone that gets beat by sven ottke isnt worth the time or effort.

I do remember mundine fighting a very good 12rounder against mikkel kessler and was harshly done by on the night as the judges all gave it a unanimous victory for mikkel despite many having it as quite a close fight

Hey man welcome to the forum. The best boxing forum on the net. Really glad you commented. The fight ringside is always very different from watching on the TV. To me it seemed the only difference was the KO and the final scores reflected that too I think. But I was watching on TV. I really wanted Geale to win but thought the only thing that separated them was the knockdown. I also remember there was a possible knock down from Geale on Mundine that was called a slip so that would change things a lot. I will have a more sober look at the fight and see If I can agree with you.

Agreed. Even after spending minutes unconscious after being KO'd by a guy Mundine said "Hits like a girl" he said "He still hits like a girl". Ottke said "well then you just got knocked out by a girl". Unfortunately his poor performances are more in peoples minds than his good ones. He has his chances with Kessler and Siacca I thought and he blew them.

In all honesty Geale got up for that fight, ive seen Geale fight a couple of times and he never looked that good in any of them. He really got himself up for this big fight and looked awesome.

Now i have a bit of inside info here, there was some troubles in the mundine training camp leading up to the fight. I watched the fight and i thought mundine didnt look right, looked sick. I know why (made a call to someone who is very good friends with Tony Mundine) but cant say anything but i can say there was a problem
