In our lifetime, there is a very good chance that there will be a serious pandemic. All the experts agree. We were damn lucky SARS wasn't more contagious than it was. That was serious shit! Bird flu? so far we are ok. So far, it is not really contagious, but that could easily change if the virus mutates. Same goes for swine. This kind of thing will happen, we just don't know when.

But I guess it's kind of trendy to blame things on the media. Makes people feel clever or something.

This all reminds of back in the 80's, my Dad, who is pretty conservative, raving about how AIDS was just a bunch of media hoopla. How wrong he was.
