Whats with all the catchweight fights lately? Is this going to be a new division in the future lol? Anyways I got Juan by unanimous decision over Paulie.

If Malignaggi wants to carry on fighting at a decent level he better come to fight for this one. I can't pick a winner though Paulie is too inconsistant

Juan Diaz wins. If a past-it Hatton can stop him Diaz definitely can. Malignaggi is even more past it than Hatton and hasn't looked good since pre-dreadlocks or whatever you call that ridiculous monstrosity he used to have on his head.

At his best, Malignaggi *might* be able to outbox Diaz for a close-ish UD. However, I think Diaz is going to take a wide decision over PM. I really think that Diaz has become somewhat underrated following his two losses, but he really impressed me in the Marquez fight.

Default Juan Diaz - Paulie Malignaggi : Done Deal for 22nd August.

    According to Boxingscene.

They agreed on a weight of 138.5.

This is a good clash of styles.

I think that Juan Diaz could deal with the loss to Nate Camobell mentaly and came back and won. But im not sure how he will come back after getting knocked out by Marquez. Juan Diaz's style is a great one but it works when he has confidence in himself, but his confidence is breakable as Campbell showed. But Diaz on some night has shown an unbreakable will and in other nights his will seems weak.

On the flip side Malignaggi since signing with buddy mcgirt has gone on a downward spiral, has gotten hit more often, and lost matches and got tough ones out of ones he normally would dominate. Recently he has dumped buddy as his trainer saying that buddy was trying to teach him a style that wasn't him and wasn't getting him anywhere. But we have not seen any footage of Malignaggi to see how he is after the Hatton loss.

In this fight its a battle of questions, and a battle of two young fighters that cannot afford to lose.

if Malignaggi loses then thats pretty much it for his career even in his 20s his time at the top level will be done. If Juan Diaz loses then even in his 20s his career at the top level is over, but he has college to fall back on he doesnt NEED boxing in his life to be successful.

That's why I'm picking Malignaggi by Decision.

When it comes to who really needs this win more, Diaz already mentally has other things outside of boxing he can do and make money at and at his young age can capitalize on it. Malignaggi to my knowledge has no such outlet and would want this more. That said I'm only banking on the Malignaggi of old to show up, if the Buddy Mcgirt Malignaggi shows up Diaz is gonna win this one easily. My final prediction is Malignaggi by decision. But this is a crossroads fight of two up and coming stars that have been close to the top but lost when on the brink. This match will be great!

I think Diaz' workrate gets him the rounds, in what will be a close fight.

Looks a good clash of styles though, hope this one is on UK TV.

gotta give both these fighters credit. For guys in their 20s and whether on the ways up or down they will fight anyone. The sad thing is when these guys stepped up in class for the titles they won but when they faced someone great in that class they came up short so this is a battle of who potentially will go on to be great and who will always be known as a good fighter that didn't live up to their potential.

I see it the same way. Paulie doesn't have the power to bother him.

I think Diaz will bull rush him, outwork him and win a competitive but clear decision.

Diaz had success getting a excellent counter puncher like Marquez onto the ropes and getting his work in, the problem for Diaz was that Marquez had good power and eventually broke him down with his well timed counter shots.

The difference in this fight is, Paulie has no power to keep Diaz off of him which will be his downfall.

I'm looking forward to it though, a very good clash of styles.

An easy points win for Diaz but should be an interesting fight.
