People are saying he doesn't have the power to keep Diaz off of him. Malignaggi's gameplan isn't to keep someone off of him its to control distance and use ring generalship not to out bang someone.

I think he could outbox Diaz. Juan Manuel Marquez and Paul Malignaggi are world apart when it comes to counter punching. Marquez is someone who lets someone impose their will while he finds openings and eventually starts to beat them at their own game. Malignaggi operates behind a jab and ring generalship and Diaz hasn't had to deal with anyone thats a mover like that or that's going to stick the jab in his face like that. I'm picking Malignaggi by decision. One thing is for sure Diaz isn't going to knock him out. I think people are underestimating Pauls ring skills, but I want to see what this new trainer has done for him, apparently he is getting him back to the way he used to fight which is a good thing because if Buddy was still training him i'd have picked Diaz instead

When was the last time Paulie really controlled the distance? Last time I remember him doing that was the first N'Dou fight. Malignaggi has really failed in the jab department lately too. He tends to lean out of his jabs now and only throw one at a time.

Marquez was able to do a good job of keeping Pacquiao at range all fight but when he fought Diaz he was up against the ropes early eating shots.

Diaz is very good at cutting off the ring as he showed against Marquez plus has a decent jab himself. Paulie has a good jab yeah but it has no pop on it, Diaz will walk right through them, outwork him and rough him up on the inside.

I'm surprised quite a few people are picking Diaz to stop Paulie though.

Paulie was the guy who went 12 rounds with Cotto, took Cotto's best blows and keep trying even with his face looking like this.

If Paulie has anything, it is certainly toughness and heart. This fight is going the distance.

The Hatton stoppage was bullshit also, He was clearly losing yeah but he wasn't hurt.

And he also managed to wobble Cotto at least twice if my memory serves me correct.

    I don't remember that.

If he did well, we all know why.

Cotto at 140 = Weight drained.

I can't describe how much I hate hearing that when someone mentions how Paulie gave Cotto a good fight. It's such a lame excuse, he looked fine in the fight, it didn't effect his performance in any way and he hit harder than ever.

he was very drained, look at the difference between Cotto versus Paulie and Quintana, a much better fighter than Paulie.

his weigh in picture for the Quintana fight was downright creepy, he barely looked like a human being.

Yeah it's pretty clear Cotto was weight drained considering his performances after, but I also think Cotto would have struggled to get motivated for Powderpuff.

Paulie did give him a good fight but it was reported long before that fight that Cotto was struggling to make 140 and it was evident at the weigh ins where he looked very pale and like a skelton.

No way was the Cotto at 140 stronger and healthier than the Cotto at 147.
