exactly, and if you rewatch the fight, it started out as 2 cuts then from Clottey banging on it, he ripped the bit of flesh that was seperating it and turned it into a huge gash, the thing was nasty looking, one of the worst cuts this year, i'd go so far to say that it was just as bad or worse than the Barrera gash, maybe not in size, but in how it took away from Cotto's ability to see out of the eye, don't see why Cotto's getting so much flack for moving back, he was boxing on the back foot, and yet would still whack Clottey with those big left hooks like he did in the 10th, it was a good fight, just as good or better than i expected it to be, instead of bitching about the decision (which i believe Cotto deserved the knod) we should be congratulating both for stepping up and taking on one of the most dangerous opponents available, they put it all on the line and should both get props for it, other fighters should take the same example
I think PAC is next for Cotto... The recent fight results and announcements is just perfect for a PAC-Cotto fight in October or November... Cotto won and PBF "injured" ....

I wish it will happen at 147. Fukk the catchweight! Lets go for the 7th title Pac!
Cotto weigh-in at 146 in his last fight against Clottey... I'm guessing Cotto can still make 144 comfortably...And they can have the belt at stake even if it's a catchweight, as long as XYZ boxing org will sanction it and all parties agree that a belt is at stake... That can be negotiated together with the fair catchweight...
.
There's not much out there for Cotto that
A) he has much chance of winning (Manny/ Floyd)
or
B) will do big numbers
Before all this talk about Marquez-Mayweather being postponed, I was going to say if Cotto wanted another fight by the year's end, and make money, he'd go up to middleweight and prolly go after Winky Wright... which would also make a Mosley - Cotto rematch even more appealing.
(and I'm assuming that 1- Mosley Pacquiao happens, and 2- Mosley wins, which i think is very possible with Nazim in his corner)
I think Clottey definitely earned a return fight, but I also think that with the way he was fighting the last 2 rounds he gave that shit away.
But I digress.
Cotto is a good fighter with occasional flashes of greatness... but in the welterweight division right now, you have a handfull of hall of famers that Cotto would only be a tune up fight for.
So ultimately he's in a bad spot.
If he's out for money, go up in weight to fight Winky Wright... then if you win that you've got the choice of going back down to fight Shane, or you can call out Paul Williams for a fight in either weight class.
Otherwise a Clottey rematch just to stay relevant is his only option.
