This thread was started May 31 and I think there's some posts here mentioning of a possible postponement/cancellation of this PBF-JMM fight due to the slow sales of tickets and PPVs... Now it became a reality...

I think PBF faking a rib injury that results to the postponement of his July 18 fight with JMM... PBF faking an injury due to the slow sales...

Whatever the case, hopefully now with Mayweather-Marquez off Pacquiao can stop being a biitch and fight Marquez again.

JMM is a good candidate for PAC's fight in October or November but there are other good candidates too... For example, the "much soften" Cotto (Arum loves a PAC-Cotto fight )... There's PBF himself, I'm guessing his fake injury will be fully healed in August ... There's Valero... So many options for PAC...

link --> POOR TICKET SALES CONTRIBUTE TO MAYWEATHER-MARQUEZ POSTPONEMENT

Perhaps the July 18 clash between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez wasn't so highly anticipated after all. Sources close to the situation have informed us that although Mayweather may have suffered a rib injury during training, poor ticket sales were the major contributing factor in the decision to postpone the bout. "Ticket sales suck," an anonymous source revealed.Indeed, ticket sales were moving much slower than anticipated. As late as Friday, fans could still purchase the limit of 10 tickets in the $300 price range, the second cheapest seats available. Given the fact that the bout was announced on May 2nd, just hours before Manny Pacquiao's clash with Ricky Hatton, it should come as no surprise that so many tickets were still available. With just 11 weeks separating the original announcement and the actual fight, there simply wasn't enough time for Golden Boy Promotions to properly promote the bout."The new date will depend on doctor's orders. Will it be a month later? Two months later? We don't know. He needs to heal," stated Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer. Although the fight has yet to be rescheduled, it's rumored that a likely date could be September 19, the weekend following Mexican Independence Day. Traditionally, it's a date that's always been reserved for fights involving Mexican boxers like Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Oscar De La Hoya and Juan Manuel Marquez. The move would give Golden Boy Promotions much more time to promote the event and likely bolster ticket sales within the Mexican community.

    NOW

The next time I hold a garage sale and nobody shows up I'm gonna blame it on a rib injury.

On June 5, a Web site devoted to boxing called Philboxing.com -- not Phil as in a guy's name or Phil as in the abbreviation for the 76ers in the NBA standings (although I guess that's Phila., according to the front of Hal Greer's old uniform) but Phil as in the Philippines -- reported that ticket sales were lagging for the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Juan Manuel Marquez fight scheduled July 18 at the MGM Grand.

Golden Boy Promotions, according to the report, would announce in the next 2-3 weeks that one of the fighters had suffered an injury in training and the fight would be postponed.

Actually, it was more like nine days when Mayweather "injured his ribs."
It had to be Mayweather who feigned -- I mean suffered -- the injury because anybody who has seen Marquez fight knows that he'd never pull out of one for any reason short of stepping on a land mine.

As for my garage sale, it's still on. The featured items are a print of "Dogs Playing Poker" and a bunch of weak excuses for calling off fights, which I'm selling for a dime a dozen.

Propaganda? That's what happened, the fight got postponed... You can't blame the guys who predicted this things weeks earlier... They're predicting this fight might get postponed due to the slow ticket sales and they added that the convenient excuse for the postponement might be one of the boxers will be declared "injured"... They called it weeks earlier so can't blame them if they believed it's really because of the slow ticket sales...
