As far as I know, there is no word yet whether the proposed Pac-Cotto fight will be a welterweight Championship. And I wouldnt call fighting Cotto at a catchweight of 145 being a case of wallet outgrows your heart, considering Cotto was fighting at 140 not long before. Its still a dangerous fight for both parties.

And since you've brought up the "Boxing is hurting itself with this kind of mess" stuff, I think you should check out what Mayweather has been doing lately and who his next fight is up against . At least pac has the nuts to name Cotto and Mosley as a possible future opponent. As far as I know, all FMJ did when the name Mosley was tossed around was to stutter .

Well, its obvious Roach made himself look silly with that statement that was an attempt to look bold. He said he doesn't care if Cotto weighs 200 pounds. Yeah, I guess the catchweight thing is Cotto's request. Okay, does he remember he said he would not let Pac fight any welterweight at 147 except the smallest welterweight and that is PBF. Also, Roach only agreed to 145 because he is now demanding a 70-30 purse and the fight to be scheduled before October. Using baseball as an excuse. Cotto has one helluva cut to heal and there is no reaonable way that skin will be fully healed by October. Pac is the best fighter and Roach is the best trainer right now but I'm tired of all his shenanigans trying to pull advantages and unfair moves. It sounds like Pac vs. Cotto. Wow, what a matchup! Until you factor in the catchweight and not allowing that vicious cut to heal properly. Anybody who has ever boxed for a significant time can clearly understand the disadvantages. Just like DLH and PBF, Pac and Roach are now picking and choosing opponents and conditions instead of just fighting the best out there as is. These guys are more business than boxing. This is what happens in boxing when your wallet outgrows your heart. If you want to defeat Cotto just to defeat him as a fighter thats fine. But if you want to be called welterweight champ then you need to beat a welterweight champ at welterweight. Even the bias Pac fan can not reasonably argue against that simple logic. If Pac and Roach think the welterweights are too big, hence the catchweight, then go after Judah, PBF, Campbell, Bradley, Valero, or JMM. Its obvious he wants none of Mosley. Mosley said he would take their catchweight and purse split yet they'd rather try to lure Cotto. Boxing is hurting itself with this kind of mess.

Thank you! I don't know why people are getting so mad over the welterweight title?! Nowhere can I find any article that says a fight between them at a catchweight would be for the title. Why are people getting so worked up about it!?

If the title is on the line at any weight besides 147 this fight is BS IMO.

Plus 145 is only 2 pounds less, people are acting like Roach and Pac are making him fight at 140. Pacquiao is the smaller man! He was fighting at 130 last year for Christ's sake!

I agree with all of that, however, if the fight is for any portion of the Welterweight title, than no way should it be below 147. I think the problem is its well known that guys like Mosley & Cotto find it hard making the weight, due to age & lifestyle respectively. Roach appears to be trying to take advantage of this. Oh & as for the Mayweather/Mosley thing, Mayweather has been putting Mosley's name out there for about a decade & got nothin', it gets a bit much to suggest he's suddenly scared of him. If Pac fights Cotto, I bet PBF & Shane schedule a fight if PBF beats JMM

If it's no big deal then Pac can fight Mosely and Cotto at 147.

Mosely is already a future HoF & is hardly stuck for cash. Cotto has more years left in boxing than either of those two.

Roach is trying to be a smartarse. Said it before they should tell him to shove it - who else could he fight and get such money.
