I was at the Garden on June 9, 2005 when Cotto fought Abdullaev. On the undercard, I saw a boxer named Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez (122 pounds). This guy is a lefty and a better version of Cotto. His defense is better and he has one punch KO power. He looks like he can carry weight well and hes only 22. He is also promoted by Top Rank. Lopez will be fighting on the Cotto-Malignaggi undercard and I am curious if anyone has ever seen him/heard of him?
Just watched him. Wasn't impressed in the slightest. I don't know if that was just a poor performance, but he was very wild and open. He seemed pretty dirty too, with incesant hitting on the break and rabbit punching.

It's obvious he's not the finished article, but I honestly didn't see much to justify the hype. He was open to right hooks all night.
