Paulie could not make the next day conference, that's how badly he was busted up but he made me a fan,he really is tough! I had it Cotto by 5,possibly 6.His defence ws very good,Paulie only caught him clean later in the fight.
I thought Cotto was fortunate to come away with the win. I had it level going into the last. Cotto dug deep and pulled out the 12th. By no means did Cotto win convincingly. Paulie had him in all sorts of trouble with his hand speed.
Agreed Clydey, I had it the same and saw Cotto just snatching the last round for the win, draw without the knockdown which was nothing spectacular IMO. Malignaggi certainly made a fan out of me, I was picking him before the fight on gut instinct and he almost pulled it out, what a tough SOB!!! And he looks like he was developing power, he even rocked Cotto! (albeit only once and it was a bit of a flash connection but still).

If Cotto moves up to WW, Id say Malignaggi has a great shot at beating any other titlist at JW. He should beat either of Witter and Corley and I dont see anyone out there who could stop him if Cotto cant (on the basis that I think JCC is moving up to WW rather than JWW).

Let's see when Hatton v. Urkal is scheduled...........

I had Cotto by one round and overall he deserved to win. Say what you like about him, he stil manages to pull it out of the bag. For how much longer, i'm not sure tho because last night he didn't realy impress me. He looked slow and a bit ponderous at times and his power didn't seem to be all there. Stil he has been matched fairly tough for such a hyped prospect and i think if he fights at 147 in the future he wil be a much better fighter..wel much better then we have seen in the last 12 months.

Cotto would beat Hatton@147 imo,Hatton at 140 though but I don't see Cotto fighting@140 again.Cotto did not struggle in any way shape or form against Ndou or Corley,Corely wobbled him once,Corley also wobbled Floyd, was Floyd struggling too??Ndou....you're joking.Well, the US commentator said it was a wide margin, you people are getting confused because Cotto did not knock him out and because Paulie was tough. You are trying to tell me this was as close as Collazo and Hatton,no way.

Paulie, did do a lot better than I thought and surprised me with his toughness, I scored it 7 rounds to 5 with the knockdown well...not as close of a fight for me, Cotto kept it at his pace and controlled most of the fight.

Paulie is gonna have to really work on his strength when he tried to trade he got whooped, when jumped in and out and boxed he had a lot of success.

I scored Hatton/Collazo the same way as the Lederman scorecard if not for the flash knockdown by his first punch
that fight would have been a draw IMO.

Cotto has to go up to 147 I think Hatton would be a good way for him to move up, I also think Cotto will be faster
at 147 because he will be putting far less strain on his body to make weight. At 147 Cotto takes Hatton without question for me.

The Game I think you need to give Paulie more credit. He did have your boy in plenty confusion at times, And it was a very close fight. Admit it, it was a lot closer then you thought it would be, and YES Cotto did struggle. But he pulled it out regardless. Closest fight of his career.

Thought it was quite an exciting fight. Last couple of rounds decided the result. Must say before the fight I had no time for Paulie with all his talking, but I now have a lot of respect for him as he put on a much better show than i imagined he would. His face was some mess by the end but he did himself proud with a very gritty performance. Cotto did well too. Not his most convincing performance but we all know fighters have their bad nights and perhaps this was one or maybe Paulie was as good as he said he was.

Either wasy the fight was good and its good to get the sport back on track after last weekends fiasco. A good night for Boxing all round.

Congratulations to Cotto on getting the win in a closely contested fight with the young malignaggi.
I had never seen the kid fight before but he was very entertaining and if he hadn't hit the canvas then it may well have been too tough too call.
Malignaggi has very quick hands, but he punches light, Cotto is a heavy hitter and looks strong but he seems to be as slow as a dump truck.
God help Cotto if he gets in the ribg with Mayweather or Hatton, I don't believe Cotto has anywhere near the speed or guile to catch mayweather and he doesn't press enough to cause mayweather trouble; with Hatton he has more of a chance but I don;'t think that Cotto can fight on the back foot and thats where he'll be against a Hatton storming forward. Also hatton can take a real shot, Cotto has the jury still out on his chin.
It's like Saddo said, a good result for Cotto but far from convincing against a small fellow who hits light.
I think they will have real trouble keeping Cotto undefeated from here on in because he needs big fights now instead of fighting little known fighters.
Malignaggi showed massive heart after the early head clash led to a cut on his eye and then cam through a knockdown. He showed excellent hand speed and he seemed to be able to jab Cotto in the face at will.
