Had to look back.He was a kid there....his 2nd fight.Oh man true to form just came out blazing.Against a guy named Melendez....both took huge hooks for all of 20 seconds or so and then poor melendez takes a hard downward right that left him frozen on the canvas......Gatti had Panama Lewis in his corner..hmm.
Have no doubt Gatti has his wings up their fellas.Love that smile,so happy in there.A permanent void in this sport now![]()

Vic ortiz should have to sit and watch all of his fights before considering the career of a true prize fighter not so much a knock on ortiz as it is huge respect for gatti .......ortiz was just the most recent example of the exact opposite of what gatti was in the ring.

Quote: after the Ruelas fight: " A bottomless well of willpower".
How was his corner man saying "Dont go to war, dont go to war with this man!"
May as well have said "try not breathing for this next round."

Wow man this is shocking.
Although he wasn't one of the most skillful boxers his great heart courage and perseverence made up for eveything.
RIP to the warrior Arturo "Thunder" Gatti

Very shocking and totally out the blue.
You cannot help but admire Gatti. He might not have had an elite level skill set, but he had a will and a heart that was beyond any measure. He was a fighter that you just loved to watch fight because you knew he would give it his all and at the least make it entertaining.
A sad, sad loss for boxing. Gatti was a true peoples champion.
