I agree to an extent with you, Byrd physically is barely even a cruiser weight so he could of probably continued to boss him using the other arm.
On the other hand a shoulder injury can have serious long term reprecusions so maybe he did the sensible thing when trying not to be a hero. Williams really couldn't afford the loss on his record as I recall.
I am just starting to fully understand the extent of how injury prone Vitali is looking back at this though... 0_o

Haye has a good couple of opening rounds, getting our hopes up, but Vitali starts to take control in the 4th & KO's him in the 7th.

Danny Williams the one armed boxer.
Where did THAT Danny Williams go? The exciting one with head movement and a good jab. The Danny Williams that wouldnt have been dominated so heavily by Vitali and knocked out by Harrison in 3 rounds or however long it was. Where was the Danny Williams that fought with one arm.. no won with one arm lol And is it me or did he all of a sudden become a better fighter when that arm left him?

Lets see here:
Haye is moving up from Cruiserweight where he beat mediocre opposition at best to become undisputed champ, has a shaky defense, comes in wild and throws looping punches, has power unproven at heavyweight, and has stamina issues.....oh yeah and doesnt have the best punch resistance....
Vitali - has never been down or even hurt from a punch (spagetti legged), patient, calculating, has solid technique, utilizes the jab well, has very good power, mentally tough, size and reach advantage....
I am not saying Vitali is by any means one of the best HW's of all time but he will steam roll Haye inside 5. I think Haye can possibly win a decision if he dances, moves, and uses punch and go. The problem is Haye has questionable stamina and gets drawn into wild exchanges and he will lose this battle.....
