Just recently when Victor Ortiz's coach kept discouraging him.
Meldrick Taylor's corner telling him he needed the last round against Chavez.
Because the other two choices those boxers did of their own accord
Koki and Shiro Kameda telling Daiki that he couldnt beat Daisuke Naito so he should elbow his cut and punch him in the balls. Great way to get yourself banned and disgraced from the boxing world.
I remember Barrera's brother telling him in the second fight after doing fuck all for the first 3 rounds that he'd won every one of them. He said something like "good, 3 to 0, 3 to 0". What fight was he friggin watchin?
It was hardly a mega fight, but I was astounded by the ineptitude of Katsidis corner during and after the Diaz fight. I hope his trainer gets hit by a bus.
"No! Not that one. Give me the one that I mixed." Refering to the water bottle that has some sort of stimulant in it. I forgot what fight it was. But it was controversial. Do you guys know what I'm talking about?
Of those three I'd have to vote for Meldrick Taylor, as he paid the highest price for listening to that terrible advice.
I'd like to add one though.
Hasim Rahman's corner in the rematch with Lennox Lewis.
Rahman came out in the first and was trying to block Lennox's punches by throwing both hands up in the air.
HIs cornerman told him "just throw your hands up like that. He can't hit you."
The next round Rahman was nearly decapitated.
GREAT advice.![]()
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
Not the worst advice ever, but one moment I've always liked:
Before Round 7 of Tyson-Biggs, Lou Duva starts yelling at Biggs: "Come on Tyrell, this guy's got nothing left. This guy is ready to go!!!"
Then Tyson KO'd Biggs about a minute later.
I think Lou Duva ranks as probably the worst at giving advices to his fighters, as people have mentioned here. The Taylor-Chavez fight ranks up there with all time stupidest advices.
i remember one time on FSN they were giving one of their usual crappy cards, and it was a Mexican fight the guy was like 14 W 7 L, against a guy who was like 5 W 9 L, right when the final round started the Mexican hurt his opponent and well his corner was screaming "cojelo, ya lo tienes debil, cojelo" which literally translates to, get him he's weak get him, then he gets stunned big time with a huge shot and his corner switches to "corre cabron corre" which translates to, run fucker run, the Mexican ended up getting stopped the same round, thought it was hilarious![]()
