I don't know what he talks about. I don't keep up.

I agree with you for the most part that money drives everything but these guys do care about their legacies, you don't think beating a guy like Mayweather would be special to him even after he finished rolling around on his bed of money? Athletes in general care to some extent about their legacies, why would boxers be different? I care about my legacy and I haven't accomplished anything.

I'm not going to take the Naz bait. That sounds a bit too much like the Calzaghe-Hopkins negotiation debate, I don't want any part of anything like that, creepy.

No bait it's the truth. He turned down a career high payday which obviously contradicts what i said about him.. anyway forget that, I believe Marquez would fight anyone if the price was right (just not Naz for some reason ).

I believe boxers are different when it comes to legacy. Do you think Marquez would still choose to fight Floyd if he was offered the same amount of money to rematch Diaz? Or Hatton? Or someone he could beat?

Did you say something about JMM and Naz? I blanked out for a second.

Meh, its a bit of a blanket statement because who knows what JMM would do, maybe he would want the chance to beat Floyd because it would be such an accomplishment. And I don't think that's utopian or absurd. I agree that boxers generally are motivated by money first and foremost but you could take that to an extreme where they are just money obsessed robots who don't care about anything else and that's just not likely to be the case for all of them even if money is still numero uno.

But yes I generally agree that fighter A would generally prefer to fight fighter B for 4 million dollars instead of fighter C for 4 millions dollars if fighter B was presumed to be a much easier mark.

However that probably changes somewhat if he feels like he's being made to look like an idiot by fighter C.

What the funk? A B C what? Lost me

I don't think it's a case of "money obsessed robots".. i think boxing can't really be compared with any other major sport. These guys wouldn't fight without great money rewards, and the legacy comes a huge second to the money, but obviously fans/punters don't want to hear that.

As Toney said that time - you don't PLAY boxing.
