Erm, dont try and take the high road here without getting your facts straight. If you actually read everybody's posts you'll see noone, not even people that picked Paulie (and there werent many of us) are saying that he won. Far from it, Paulie, or Cotto's EXTREME lack of doing anything between rounds 3 and 9, made it a close and enjoyable fight. Cotto turned it up when he needed to (the last three rounds) and won in the end. Paulie was extremely effective when on the outside of Cotto, whether this was more due to Cotto's inactivity or his workrate, he still was. The thing that made Cotto look dominant is he won THE FIGHT, not all the rounds, and the rounds that he won, he won by a decidedly bigger margin than Maglinaggi won any of his. However, this is the way boxing matches are scored and if you look at what BOTH fighters were doing, Maglinaggi won a lot of the middle rounds.Originally Posted by Bx730NY
Paulie was hardly anyone's man before the fight, people here just make informed decisions. Cotto was drained, looked like a freaking skeleton in the press conference and people thought Paulie could give him trouble. Im a Cotto fan but was seriously worried going into this fight and wasnt too convinced at the end. If someone with Paulies speed and any power at all comes along (Mayweather) Cotto could be in serious trouble.
