Rolando Navarete gone loco and piss poor. Was Agapito Sanchez shot or stabbed to death? Damn, this thread is indeed depressing.

Well I hate to be all "Donny Downer" on the forum, but I think this topic is big in this sport, we've had so many All-Time Greats and Champions that have had tough lives inside and outside the ring and I think it helps explain why boxing is not only a sport, but it's like a family.

Micahel Watson after his 2nd fight with Eubank. He is in a much better state now but he will never fully recover!

although he's not dead, I think Joe Frazier has had a very tough and unfair life. I've kept the HBO documentary on my Tivo "Thrilla in Manilla" and every time its still sad to see where he has had to end up living, living the rest of his life bitter about what should have been the greatest moment of his life.
    The key is Self-discipline.

Actually Chuvalo had 3 sons that died from drug overdoses and his wife commited suicide just a week or so after her 2nd son was buried.

The Hilton family (Matthew, Alex & Davey) was pretty sad. All 3 bothers had world class skills but drugs, booze, jail, etc ruined there chances.

How about Tony Ayala Jr.? Most people said he could have been an all-time great and was on the brink of some huge fights before he went to jail.

Tyson is huge tragady, the guy lost/spent/stolen from like $300mil, his prime was way to short and I think he robbed us of seeing one of the best heavy's of all-time.

The Forrest one was very sad. I remember see the HBO boxing deaths special about the deaths of Forrest, Gatti and Arguello. Tragic end. Sanders too, wasn't he protecting his daughter or something?

Yeah Forrest should have not pursued those guys. You can always get another watch. Corrie got it in a restaurant I think while dining with family. I was really gutted when Arguello killed himself. Its always the guy that you think would never do it that does. I hate to be a cynic but I still suspect Gatti's wife.

Yeah so do I, I always thought something was amiss with Gatti. I suppose we'll never know. I used to have that documentary on my PC but lost all of my boxing videos about a year ago, it was an interesting watch.

Vernon Forrest HAD to pursue those guys. He was a fighter. They probably put their hands on him. I have a friend that had 12 pro fights as a LHW in the 60s and he got robbed at gun point. He chased the guy down and beat the hell out of him. He said it wasn't the money, but that the guy smacked him. He said that once the guy put hands on him, he had no other thought but returning the favor.

Common sense vs instant death for me given the circumstances. Its what separates us from the apes so they say. Its just not a hill that I'd be prepared to die on. I did however punch the snot out of an Atv redneck about three years ago for kicking my old dog in the gut for no reason. He was wearing an old school motorbike helmet but there were no guns present.
