He usually did OK against a lot of the guys who beat him... the deciding factor always ended being that he wasn't really a heavyweight at all.

Yea i've heard that before, and i've seen the fight a few times. Herbie Hide was outboxing Riddick Bowe for a few rounds, and had him out on his feet in the 3rd round. If i remember rightly, but he was too small and his chin let him down. Herbie Hide certainly packs a wallop, he put Michael Bentt in a coma for a few days.
