wow. If I had the time I'd tell you how many registered professional boxers there are, how many title fights there were last year and how many 'catchweights' were dealed out, but yeah you beat me with that comprehensive list.
    Beat you?

I was just informing my fellow saddo friends that catchweights are not a modern phenomenon.

Also Cotto is not THE MAN at welterweight. He holds a worthless alphabet title. So even if Pac beat him at 147 it wouldn't make him the TRUE welterweight champ (there's something to beat Pac with ).

So we have to wait for Floyd to fight a proper welterweight and come out or retirement.

Well he is out of retirement.

If the champ retires the no.1 and no.2 ranked guys meet to establish THE MAN.. as it currently stands (using The Ring and the Saddo ratings) Cotto and Mosley would have to fight again to establish THE MAN.

BUt obviously Floyd is still here.

Cotto had beaten Mosley so he is the man. Forget Marg, he cheated

Floyd was still active when that fight happened.

You can't be THE MAN unless you beat the man.

...and what if THE MAN didn't want to fight you? That's what happened to Cotto...he should have gotten his shot at Floyd, it's not as if Floyd fighting him was going to be charity work or anything.

But Floyd wouldn't still be considered lineal right? It would just be vacant, no?

I don't even know why I'm responding. I care nearly as much about "who's lineal" as obscenely rich boxers care about the opinions of message board fans.

The no.1 and no.2 have to meet to establish the new MAN. That hasn't happened.
