You have a good point about alphabet belts.

An underappreciated aspect is that Cotto is agreeing to the catchweight, and all that it entails. Is he not? Last I heard, Cotto said he has no problem at all coming in a couple pounds underweight. Something that Cotto fans and opponents of the catchweight neglect to consider. As clubber points out.

I'm with lefty on this one. 145/146/147, no big deal, according to Cotto himself. Come fight time it won't really matter.

Cotto takes a few good shots to the end of his chin and goes down for the count, before the fight is half over.

Good so you agree that Cotto can come in at 147.
You guys bitching and moaning about the weight and split can save it. No one forced Cotto to take the fight. He has a team of negotiators who settled on those terms with the Paquiao camp. If Cotto and his team are satisfied with the terms, then there's no reason anyone else should care. 145 is a welterweight fight by definition, period. It's perfectly legitimate for the belt to be at stake and Cotto doesn't have a problem with it.
it's simple, Manny wants to be a welterweight, fight a real welterweight at welterweight, so many people bitching about Mayweather handpicking opponents, but when you're basically "willing" to take on anyone but have it be at a catchweight like Pacquiao is doing, it's just as bad

You're right; it is simple, but your reasons are wrong. It's simple becase 145 IS a welterweight fight and Cotto agreed to do the fight at that maximum weight. He has no problem with it. End of story.

The only logical conclusion to this is that the world gets behind Cotto and hope he ends Manny once and for all. Manny is cashing out anyway, he is probably overweight and paying for serfs to serv him grapes and play him videos of the Barrera fights. Little does Manny know that his time is almost numbered and I hope it's as brutal as can be.

If the reason people are getting behind Cotto is because the fight is at 145--something Cotto agreed to--then that's pretty ridiculous.
