For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

The only thing I really knew about Vernon outside the ring was when Ken Burns was promoting his Jack Johnson documentary and was invited to a dinner at the White House and I'm not sure if Vernon went to the dinner or not but he spoke very well and very intelligently about Johnson and obviously knew his stuff. Leading up to the Mora fight he was doing a lot of trash talking and I remember everyone on the conference call transcript shocked that he was talking to that way. You don't see that much. RIP and may the bastard who shot him in the back burn in hell.

I was shocked to see Forrest talking that way as well. However, to his credit, as soon as Mora beat him he went up to him in the ring, congratulated him and apologized for all the shit-talking, telling Mora he didn't mean any of it and it was all aimed at trying to sell the fight.
