Brazilian authorities are sketchy at best and obviously if she's out, she gets his cash. Case closed. I don't buy it at all and yeah, the knife that they had at the press conference to explain the head wound is where? BS. Damn shame.

It all reeks of something dodgy. If the police in Brazil are anything like those in Korea then it's likely a case of "Oh, here's a dead foreigner...we don't want the hassle and expense, let's close the case ASAP and if that involves spinning it a bit then so be it". You would think it would be a bit different involving someone as well known as Gatti.

I don't believe Arturo Gatti killed himself.

And from what I've read neither does his family.

I was under the impression he was strangled to death with a purse strap? when did it changed to him hanging himself?

Well I can't say I am surprised by this....I am wondering how Acelino Freitas feels about this situation? He was the guy Gatti and his wife were down there to see anyway. Freitas also said they had been fighting a lot or having "troubles". I would think a guy like Acelino would carry some weight down there and if he had doubts about this case he could get something done about it.

One of the reasons that it was ruled a suicied is because he was found suspended. As if he had hung himself. I think that begs the question: why was it ever considered a homicide.

Now this poor woman, who just lost her husband, had to sit in jail while the funeral was going on.

An article that sums pretty well the oddness of that case and why some of us have legitimate doubts about this newly "suicide" conclusion:

Bro, initial reports by brizilian police...(from the press conference) say he was found 1. On his bed 2. a bloody knife near by and 3. A bloody purse strap found next to him and head and neck trauma.

    They've done a 180. THAT'S why people think it was a homicide.

Now all of a sudden he was suspended.

    Maybe their findings are accurate?

Gatti strangled himself to death, after he failed to kill himself delivering a blunt trauma to his head!

This is ridiculous! The headline should've read.... Off shore, highly possible pre-meditated murder, found to be a suicide!

No laughing matter, but these are the disturbing facts with the improbable conclusion that is unlacking in its invite for ridicule.

It is a good thing that Gatti's New Jersey family will not rest and will have the remains exhumed in Canada. That's what I thought I've read earlier. I hope this pushes through, just so we hear another version to this death, this time, with no tainted flavoring to it.

I just don't by any of it.I think those conducting...spinning a wheel to find what happened and investigating have lost much credibility and should be well scrutinized. The difference is pretty obvious with regards to a man laying prone as opposed to elevated off the floor It smells very bad, very shifty!

Truth... and to add some furthur things...

Once something is ruled a suicide and suspects are nolonger suspects authorities tend to realease a bulk of information as there is nolonger a need to keep things under raps cuz no one is being investigated...

a la David Caradine(I'm using him cuz it's recent)... He was found hanged and amung other things such as a rope tied around his genitals and such...

My point is that the authorites even released the things I DIND'T want to hear... They released them due to the suicide being cut and dry.

Why is it that you seemingly have no/incorrect/conflicting/foggy information weeks after the "Suicide"?

Funny you brought him up "just cause' it's recent".....bet that rope around the jiggly jewels didn't have anything to do with it. I can see a smile as you were typing that. Poor, poor Grasshopper. Gives new meaning to blue balls.
