How Good is Calzaghe ?

Joe Calzaghe is pure class! If you didn't think so before, surely he showed in the Lacy fight. That was the greatest boxing performance for years, he punched and rolled off him every shot. Think he is class and a great champ!

I met Joe in London honestly he is such a cool guy loves being champ ( and the attention ) but was really quick with the one liners he is the best fighter on the planet for me .

Everybody said before the Lacy fight he was a joy to be around really laid back and utterly confident i think he is somebodyn with that genuine x factor confidence by the bucket load .

Met Carl Froch as well what a nice bloke he is had my photo taken with him i think all fighters like being in the limelight .

Yup, I'm gonna have to back him up on this one, I met Calzo in Pizza Hut in Cardiff, and he was just an absolute gent, though I didn't have the johnson's to go up to his table and interrupt his meal, so I joined him for a wall to the salad bar when he got up

As for his fighting skills, anyone who reads my posts knows that I think he is a great fighter, and that I would love to see him unify the big four in the super-middle division to prove what many people think already, that he is the greatest in this generation of SM fighters.
The Tarver fight must surely be a no-go after his dreadful showing against b-hop, and Johnson has now gone for a tear-up with Clinton Woods, so the natural fights will be Kessler and Bayer, unless Winky Wright does step up, and that would be a massive fight.
And as for making a great fighter from a good fighter, then surely a lot of it is down to the talent around in the division, and also, possibly more importantly, how much is the manager/promoter willing to expose his meal ticket to, becase Frank Warren makes Calzo's fights, and I'm sure he makes a fair turnover on even minor fights like Evans Ashira, which might not be so big if Calzo loses, but now he's into the final stretch of his career, in his own words, then he has to push FW to come through with some massive fights for him to secure his legacy.

One of the biggest differences between euro guys and the counter Americans is that euro guys does a lot of roadwork to built up stamina and lung capacity. A lot of American fighters use their time lifting iron instead and gets bodies not like a boxer but like bodybuilders.

Froch IS a good bloke, dead down to earth and hilarious - and more to the point, he does rate calzaghe as a fighter, totally - he loved the Lacy fight.

I think Froch was just a tad frustrated with Joe's opponents and excuses last year plus the comments about Ricky Hatton's win over Tszyu being 'average' compared to himself and how 'Warren is the best promoter in the world and Hatton has made a terrible mistake' blah blah - and then fought Ashira!

It certainly frustrated me given Joe's talent.

Hennesey were just building hype and interest into a possible match-up before Lacy delivered Joe his golden ticket to the big time.

So long as Joe's hand dosen't go mid-fight, i reckon he has the capability of fighting anyone in and around his weight.

I would like to see him travel though if i'm honest.
