Why hasn't anyone said "Arturo was depressed" or "Arturo had talked about killing himself", even his wife didn't say Arturo was depressed! She said "He was worried she might leave him", but she never said he was depressed or that he threatened to take his own life. Suicide isn't usually something you do on a whim....and it's usually not done by hanging yourself with a PURSE STRAP, I mean why not a belt, why not an electrical cord Why not OD on pills? Why not use a gun? Why not use a knife That plus the other unidentified injuries makes suicide seem a bit odd.

#2 Let's say Arturo was murdered, his wife never had an alibi, she was in the house/apt for 10 hours, no one left, no one came in, the police checked servailence and the electronic locks, ergo there are only 3 people in the house/apt only 1 has the ability to murder Arturo Gatti and that is Amanda Rodrigues. Surely if Gatti killed himself it's a suicide, and it's HIGHLY doubtful that a 10 month old could kill Arturo no matter how drunk he was. Now throw in the new information about Gatti's will and it casts a big shaddow over Miss Rodrigues and her doings that night.

I think Dr. Michael Baden was the PERFECT dude to call on, if you've seen his specials on HBO, you know he's one smart guy and he'll get to the bottom of this.

I do think if Canada finds incriminating evidence, they are going to have to go through hell to extridite Ms. Rodrigues.
It's a horrific case and none of it seems to add up at all. You make a lot of valid arguments in this post and with what is coming out about the will...well it seems very suspicious.

I was interested to see the link Diane put up, a shame to see it removed. I'm not one for looking at dead bodies, but we all want a clearer indication of what we are dealing with here. Too much stuff spinning around for me.

Well like I said, I'll ask Danny if he still has the video, and will post a link if he does.

If not, I did save the screen shots that Danny took, and I can post the links for those, but those are on my computer at home, so it will have to wait until I get home tonight. I have the actual crime scene, a screen shot of the strap, and of the demonstration of how he supposedly did it.

    And yeah Fenster, I know.

Diane, I think I found what you saw?

TV iG | A pgina de vdeos da internet | Mulher de Arturo Gatti libertada

Are you sure that's blood around his head? If so then you're right - how could she have thought he was sleeping? Even if he was slumped drunk on the floor the blood would you tell you something was wrong. Like maybe he fell and cracked his head open. I can't tell whether it's blood though?

The demonstration beforehand shows two stools. The real picture shows only the one under the stairs. So where's the other stool? From the camera angle the other stool may be knocked over under the stairs?

Is the strap still round his neck? I can't make out whether that's the strap under his arm or liquid/blood in the tile crevices?

Yes, that is the video, I was just went to Danny's account on another forum, because I figured he would have posted it, and I got the link, came here, and you already posted it.

Here is a still shot of the scene, in case you need to look at it better.

Warning spoiler contains an image of Gatti dead

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's blood. And like we both said, how could she not know something was wrong by the way he was laying there.

As far as the stool, if it was standing up, and we couldn't see it, that makes me question it even more only because, if he really was that drunk, one - could he really even stand on a small stool, two - there's no way it wouldn't have been knock over IMO. Being that he was supposedly drunk as hell, and if someone is trying to kill themself, would they gently push a stool back so that it doesn't get knock over?

Where is the purse strap? They said he was suspended probably for about 3 hours. Did it break, and that's why he fell? Is so, why isn't in on the stairs still. I don't see it around his neck, or on the floor either.

Assuming he did commit suicide - the stool must be out of the picture. It was either knocked forward or backwards. Otherwise where is it? It's not the one standing up under the stairs because the demo showed that one already there.

They said he drank 2 bottles of wine with his meal (assume that was shared with his wife) and 7 cans of beer. He couldn't have been paralytic drunk, to the point where he couldn't stand on a stool, because he had a fight with her outside before getting a cab home.

The purse strap must have broken from the stair bannister, so would still be around his neck.. this is the bit I don't get from the picture. The purse strap and the blood?

Where do you think the blood is? There are two dark lines running from underneath his body, one from his neck area, the other from his belly going under his arm/elbow area. Do you think that is blood?

For a man of his stature, who is known to often socially drink, that is no way near enough for alcohol poisoning.

A few things strike me about the picture.

1- If you were going to hang yourself from the stair case.. Why not just climb the stairs set of the strap and hop over the railing?

    2. its apparent that there was a fall of some type, assuming the body has not been tampered with. The position of the right arm is an unnatural position. its typical of an arm that was trying to break a fall. Had he been choked on the floor. His hand would be palm side down either bracing itself against to floor to relieve the tension on the throat caused by an upward choke againts gravitys effect on the body. Or if it had gone limp while reaching for the strap (also to counter the leverage being applied by the strap.

So for a possibility. consider this: Arturo Gatti is pretty shitfaced and walking around the house after returning in the cab with the baby (i think the reports said). He puts the kid to bed and is probably either looking for another drink or staggering around feeling the effects of the first few.... He sits on the stool by the staircase maybe even leans back... perhaps drifting in an out of conciousness. (we've all been there). At which point the brazilian june cleaver comes home, still stewing about the fight at the club. She sees him sitting there and goes to find a strap or strangling agent and comes back. Shes on the staircase and slips it over his neck and reels back, bracing her foot against the bannister for support. Her reeling back once or twice, pulls the back of arturos head toward the staircase with enough force that it hits corner of a stair or a mounting bracket (perhaps even the bottom of the bannister) that it causes the stab or stab like wounds. Arturos in his already weakened state is no match for the leverage she has with her the force of her legs back and shoulders pushing off the bannister. (if the stool was concievably tall enough which it might be from the pic.. he couldn't even secure any footing as his feet werent completely reaching the floor. Eventually he stops struggling and she releases one end of the purse strap and he falls to the floor. she staggers off and sleeps it off. comes back later to the full realization of what she did..

-She didnt have to be strong enough to suspend his body as had already done it when he perched himself on the stool. She just applied leverage not for lifting but just in pinning him there. Its a lot easier to lock and hold a weight in a certain position than to lift it there.
    - I freeze framed the video, there are no marks on her hands (concievable from the purse straps) but then again .. not as much would be needed. the strap was thick enough that it wouldnt cut into her hands. the skin on the hands is also a lot tougher than the rest of the body and takes more to bruise, puncture or abrase. The material of the strap in the video also seems to have a padded part to it which could have been used. Couple that the time she spent in custody could have allowed any marks to heal.

Just a theory running through my head... Run with it if you like.

Here's a really good article that gives a lot more background details about their marriage.

Just reading her comments pisses me off, and I hope the family keeps pressing for answers.

The article is 5 pages long, so make sure that you read all of it.

Jesus, it's going to be awhile before the 2nd results come out.

The wife is now thinking of suing the Brazilian police, and is now trying to claim that she wasn't a stripper.

I too thought it looked like he could have been strangled by someone using the bannister as leverage.

The police said the head wounds happened in the fight earlier. Apparently he fought a security guard and a few other people coming to her aid.
