As a big RJJ fan i loved every minute of it, too me there was flashes of the old RJJ again. At the end of the 5th round, he threw like a 20 punch combo. I haven't seen him do anything like that in years.
His workrate was better than i've seen it in awhile, he was using the jab more something i haven't seen since the Vinny Pazienza fight. And he was going to the body very well.
And he was talking to the crowd, while avoiding punches just unreal. I can't believe anyone picked Jeff Lacy over RJJ. Yes RJJ is past his prime and he has been for years.
But Jeff Lacy has been going life and death, with fighters like Otis Griffin for crying out loud. He has literally been reduced to journeyman status, and i've been saying this for ages he should just retire.
He doesn't even seem to have power anymore either, he had no sting on his punches at all tonight. RJJ at one point looked at the crowd and let Jeff Lacy hit him with his best left hook, and it done nothing at all.
Jeff Lacy is well and truly finished, and he should retire before he gets damaged permantely. He took a real beating tonight, and he's lucky RJJ was just having a good time in there and let Jeff Lacy off the hook, when he could of finished him off plenty of times.
Lastly i would like to see RJJ retire on a good performance, but he probably won't. And he will go after a big fight over in Australia against Danny Green, a fight i think he will win.
Based on a poorer man's version of RJJ aka Anthony Mundine. Handling Danny Green quite comfortably, overall good performance from RJJ he beat Jeff Lacy just as bad as Joe Calzaghe did.
And this fight reminded me why RJJ is one of my favorite fighters.
