Lawrence Cole is one of the worst officials I have ever seen.

We need a rematch in NY or NJ on Colombus Day
Isn't he though!!!!....I mean the shit he let go in the Smith/Jacobs fight alone was enough to make me rethink my opinion of him but then asking judges in the Malinaggi/Diaz fight if they seen a headbutt or not?
In the past I never noticed his shoddy officiating last night pointed it out claerly

If a middle-aged woman could see the miscarriage of justice through poor judge scoring, I cannot imagine how the experts feel. Have only watched a few bouts more than twice, but watched it twice today, after seeing it last night, to verify what I saw with my own eyes. Mr. Malignaggi was clearly the winner, hands-down. Am sorry Mr.Malignaggi had to experience Texas politics with a belt at stake. I do not agree with Mr.Malignaggi's foul language, which is part of our culture, but his lines were not rehearsed. Mr.Diaz did not seem surprised in the least, as if he "expected" the win if he could simply not get knocked-out in the ring. The GB was also a huge disappointment, as he was once a gentleman...how money changes people. Pathetic. Under such a cloud of controversary, Mr.Diaz needs to be a man and demand a rematch on neutral terrain, without Texas judges. Let the winner prevail. Mr.Malignaggi is now the Champion of the World's Hearts! That means so much more than a HOLLOW victory belt.
Like him or not Malinaggi fought like a champion Saturday night...
He was fast, threw combos, had a good offense and defense, high workrate, took all the shots that did land and sucked them up.....After the fight he was a gentleman towards his opponent, he took the boos of the Texas crowd and gave back respect that was not deserved by stating he liked Texas and thought they were a great bunch of fans......
Paulie got a raw deal last night but even in the end he came out the more marketable guy in the bout...He also proved he was not finished yet at the world class level.....
He earned my respect while Texas Boxing and Golden Boy lost most of it

I haven't seen the match but seeing the reviews of it, it seems like there is tons of food for thoughts as for the issue and how it got scored, once I get the fight tape, I get back to ya with my own mind on it.

That's the way it is, not the way it ends
I really dont think its so much of a 'Texas' thing as it is the commission and promotion.I could see Paulie winning but this was no 'robbery'. I think he went over the top with calling people out, getting foul in a victim mantra prior to the fight like that.Rightly or wrongly,he put the spotlight on him. He'll ride this one into something bigger. And frankly has retained enough boxing 101 to last a while while Diaz is very rinse and repeat predictable...been saying watch GBP closley...almost come off like a syndicate or something.
suprised to see the thread title still up ?
Meh, I had it 7-5 Diaz. I am a Diaz fan, I have also scored a lot of fights against guys I'm fans of. I gave Paulie the third round because I was worried I was seeing the fight through Diaz goggles. I don't have any problem with a draw or even a 7-5 score for Paulie although I think that's maybe a bit excessive, I don't know. But all this talk of robbery is baffling to me. Paulie was a bit more active and controlled the ring well at times, Diaz to me landed the cleaner more effective punches. The "robbery" I think is a bit of a result of a bunch of things, one, robbery is always thrown around after close fights, two, HBO (mainly Max) was up Paulie's ass all night and, especially in a close fight, commentary does swing opinion, its indisputable, three, people felt like Paulie was getting a bit shafted from the beginning, and four its easy to overestimate how well somebody's doing when they're surprising you with how well they're doing.
It wasn't a robbery. It was just bad scoring from one judge especially.
Its 10:13 at night man.
I've never been a fan of P. Mal and I never will be. Honestly, the fight bored me.
Maybe, it was my mood that night, but it seemed like a pillow fight to me. I enjoyed the Jacobs-Smith fight much more.
