Another guy who plays good "Other side of the fence" music is David Lindley. He had that big hit with "Gonna Buy Me a Mercury", but he's played and recorded every stringed instrument under the sun.

From my own favorite list .

I love this: the bent warped sound of this Arabic instrument they use in the start of this track,something stirs deep in me I dont know why.Then the drums come in slightly off beat yet the whole thing is in sync.

The first 5 min of this I just love, the last 2 not so much.

Same goes for bag pipes and the pitch they hit at times,very moving to me when played on mass.


I like this weird stuff for some reason too, flowing trippy with drums doing their own thing and the hi hat lifted on the back beat. I like the clip too.

So fuckin complex,not many "untuned to Beefheart" ears can get it.
Its annoying to some peoples ears who have become attuned to what the radio gives out, like being cut in half with a saw and told to try and enjoy it.
