He does look much better than in recent years. He also sounded pretty good in that interview too.
I really hope Toney puts on a good showing, he is due one. I don't know what happened to Toney between the second Rahman fight and the Oquendo one. Toney seemed in a great place before fighting Rahman, but slipped again with Oquendo. He seems to be back in that pre Rahman mindset and seems in even better condition now.
If he doesn't look good in this then he must retire. There can be no excuses after making the effort to whittle down a few pounds.
He will put on a good performance at this weight, I hope.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
haha why now? Frustrating.
Oh well I tend to think so what he's still shot but I guess this will end the debate to some extent, if he still looks poor he's obviously shot period.
Cmon James!!!! Good on him dropping all that weight, like to see him retire on top
Oh get the fuck off your high horse...you are a typical media sheep who the press love because you are so easily caught up in their web of lies.
Most professional athletes are on some form of performance enhancing drugs..yes even your favourites. I realised this from a very young age. Being around people at a high level in any sport always reveals this.
While I understand where you're coming from because I was this naive when I was 16 and thought everybody was a natural, there are certain things that a human can not naturally do.
Please, just do some research and don't just follow the crowd. He did not put anyones life in danger - he didn't take bricks in with him like Margarito. Makes me sick how some athletes get labelled drugs cheats when they get caught and others are silently excused.
Steroids will not turn you into Ivan fucking Drago. You are just putting in more of the hormones that are naturally in your body in the first place - Some people have naturally higher hormone levels than others...I guess they should be banned for "putting peoples lives at risk" - Your arguement is flawed in a big way and you are labelling innocent people murderers.
The playing field will NATURALLY never be even - Take a chill pill and think about what you are sayin.
[quote=Althugz;784702] Hummm... I completely disagree here; Steroids can turn you into IVan Fuckin' Drago, I've seen the change with my own eyes and I was staggered; A friend of mine now is manager of a Pro-Gym in Montreal. Now he's completely natural to say so, no steroids or nothing, course he's build like a wall but it looks quite human to say so. Still, before that run, a couple of years ago, he got interested into steroids and make something like 2 cycles with a stuff he injected himself called "DK" or something like that.
Well, in one year, he went from skinny like me to a real monster without training as hard as he does today. He's still big today but REALLY, nothing compared to that stuff he took. We talked a few times about that and he still agrees that steroids can shape you into a monster... with every conseqwuences that can go along with it in the long time of you persist to take such substance for too long.

That's the way it is, not the way it ends
Too little too late I am afraid. James Toney is older, he's slower, and eventually he's going to have to fight a "somebody" in the division again if he is to continue trying to be a champion.
Preme, I've never seen anyone drunk to the point where they slur their posts. Have a good night did we?
[quote=Nameless;784730]I'm sorry my man but you don't know the first thing about training if you think you can take steroids or any form of chemical enhancement and work "less" hard to progress.
The whole point of steroids, if educated people do them correctly, is that they allow you to surpass the point where your genetics would otherwise impose a limit.
So for example - (and it's not this simple but to put it into Laymans terms so that you can understand) - John benches 100kg and has been stuck at that plateau for 3 months with no size gains or strength gains and he practices perfect nutrition. He has obviously reached his genetic potential.
He takes steroids and this ends up allowing him to bench 120kg - Hence, more stimulation of muscle fibres and more intense breakdown of them too. This allows John to grow beyond his genetic capacity.
So your friend who took "DK" (donkey kong? wtf? Not even a steroid) and got massive without training as hard has just defied human nature. So there are really 3 outcomes - either you're bullshitting, he's bullshitting or he has the most amazing genetics known to man. The truth usually sits somewhere in the middle (he's bullshitting)
Again, I'd urge you to research for yourself and make up your own mind. One thing I will say is that some people DO respond better to chemical enhancement than others but you're not going to surpass your genetic potential by training LESS intensely. The whole point is that they allow you to train MORE intensely.
Those ethopians as well should all be banned from endurance events dam it...damn cheaters have more slow twitch muscle fibres and higher hematocrit than other people - Ban them!! We need a level playing field!!![]()
He looks good and actually has a neck.Even if he never achieves something big its better than going out a tired, shuffling super sized version of a past great.
Toney hasn't weighed 217 since he beat Holyfield.
