The question of records built on unimpressive fighters, or opponents, is decidedly laborious to discuss, prove or list. In all fairness, Valuev is catching an inordinate amount of criticism, and I agree with Valuev that his showing against John Ruiz was not spectacular. A rematch would be good for the divison I think. It would mean a good payday for the Russian giant, and, I think, a severe beating for the "quiet" man from Puerto Rico. Roberto Duran in the seventies was nothing short of spectacular and gave Ray Leonard, a "great" fighter, all he could handle in the first fight.
I never heard Sean O'Grady say, or anyone else, he was a "great" fighter, but I would say he is bright, a gentleman and cares for the sport. Commentators are ubiquitous, but often mean-spirited; not Sean, he is intelligent and objective. Maybe that is what some folks do not like.
