Marquez's best chance is to set the pace but not get greedy. I've always maintained that too many of floyds opponents either try to box with him or swarm him. Floyds a fighter thats great defensively and when he gets going, good and accurate offensively. Its in the transitions that he's vunerable.

Constantly swarm him and he'll never come out of his shell and roll his shoulders, clinch and potshot Marquez because he got greedy and overstayed his welcome in the pocket. If JMM lays back too much and tries to box, Floyd will start to pick at him with his speed and slip out before Marquez can counter. If JMM pressures him wisely and engages him intermittenly, Floyd will cover up at first, allowing Marquez to get the points and when Marquez steps away instead of taking the bait, Floyd will have to come after him to get those points back. He'll have to come out his comfort zone for that against a game fighter that can counter punch. Thats Marquez's best chance of landing heavy leather and making it Floyds choice to slip away from the counters and leave the points with marquez or to man up and go to war with a someone whos used to fighting that way. Just my opinion, of course.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

Stick that jab in his face! I think Marquez' jab is what can win him this fight, throwing that straight right in there every now and then. No loopy punches, keep them straight down the pipe. Marquez may be able to "wow" the judges by throwing his combinations from different angles if he gets Mayweather on the ropes but I don't think those types of punches connect on Floyd. Like I said before, straight shots are his best bet.

For some reason, I think Mayweather is going to come out blazing tomorrow. Very much like he did against Gatti. The fight was supposed to be a catch weight but Floyd weighed in one pound under the welterweight limit. I see Floyd using his size advantage and looking for a knockout.

very good assesment if you ask me

only time ive genuinely seen mayweather bothered and unable to counter an opponent was the 1st castillo fight when he constantly landed straight shots that went through floyds guard.

It ensures you protection as long as the jabbing hand is face up and your able to sideduck any potential counters.

Thats the blueprint that Juan must follow for tonights fight.

He can duplicate what Castillo did that night. What he lacks in size he makes up for in class but Floyd has so many advantages that it would have to be a perfect gameplan from Marquez and thats a big ask.

He fought two good fights vs Pac and Barrera but two lapses in concentration saw him floored in those fights. For a guy who lost to Norwood and Chris John, I cant see him winning here unless Floyd turns up the worst he has ever been

Tactically Juan has to work the jab like Oscar. Keep Floyd guessing and whatever he does he cant stay in punching range without throwing like Gatti did. If he does all this he could take a decision but the likely outcome is Floyd on points.

Simple, JMM just have to be tough and smart. He can either pressure Floyd all night (which is what Floyd wants) and try to drain Floyd of energy or get Floyd to come to him (which Floyd doesn't want to do but he'll accomodate JMM) and try and counter the counterpuncher.

I think the best way JMM can take it to Floyd is to do both and try to mix Floyd up. JMM needs to lay back early, add pressure later on in the round and maybe try to draw Floyd into some exchanges which JMM can hopefully get the best of him.

If there are no exchanges then it's going to be a long night for JMM. The good news is JMM can throw pretty much every punch in the book, he's got a right right cross, great uppercut, and he's got a decent hook.

JMM must dictate the fight and not allow Floyd to settle. Pressure and throw punches when Floyd wants a rest, throw punches in bunches when JMM attacks, countering Floyd when he can. All these things throughout the fight.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

I don't really see it. I cannot find an angle wherein JMM can give it a GO with any advantage.

Exploit the ring rust by maximizing the length of action on each round maybe... and to hopefully be there with enough firepower to finish off Floyd, if the latter would ever allow for a chink in his armour to surface.

It is almost that, all avenues lead to a PBF Jr. win, moreso now with the extra poundage, ensuring size supriority.

If this is a chess match, only a blunder from Lil' Floyd, combined with an opportunistic and an overachieving performance from Juan Manuel Marquez, can deny Floyd Mayweather Jr. from getting the victory.
