I don't think the weight is a big deal really, it isn't like it's a power puncher in there, this is going to come down to who has the best boxing brain. In chess weight doesn't matter.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
I posted this in the other thread, but the contracted weight was 144 and Mayweather has been fined.
Weigh-in blog: Mayweather misses weight - Las Vegas Sun
Since they're pretty much about the same thing, I merged the two threads.
Why wasnt Mayweather required or ALLOWED to re weigh in?
I am his biggest fan on this forum, but I cant apologize for being unprofessional and missing weight
It all smells fishy, Marquez didnt blink neither did Oscar or Schaeffer, everyone on the stage looked business as usual, no one whispering in each other ears no confused looks, announcers and Buffer didnt say nadda..
ALL PLANNED
You know they had been kind of strange about the weight and I had heard talk that there might be a surprise come fight night so this isn't that surprising.
If there was no attempted re weigh in its pretty clearly its a deal where Floyd just didn't want to lose the extra two, feels stronger at 146.
I dont know what to believe, I mean like JT says no one seemed to complain, it he was over surely well no defintly there would of been some sort of protest from Dela Hoya/Marquez. If it was agreed from the outset it's at 147 thats fine, can anyone provide a link to who and when it was said this fight was 144??

Richard Schaefer is quoted in this report.
Is there A vid of the weigh in ??
Mayweather sticks it, remains true to the bad boy persona he portrays in public, in disregarding the 144lb weight limit.... anyway he has the "money" to pay off the fine, and whatever it is, for every pound of excess weight.
Fine or no fine... he must have wanted to be the bigger man in the fight so badly, that he ditched the catch-weight altogether , if there ever was one.
If it is OK with JMM, then he must be oozing with confidence at a level tht is alarmingly dangerous. Juan needs confidence alright, but the "over" variety... is a no, no!
Pretty Boy Floyd is the best there is in the business to capitalize from the smallest of advantages. He is unbeaten after 39 pro fights for a reason! How much more of this kind of an advantage?
*******
Nonito Donaire found himself in a similar situation over in his last fight. His opponent carried 4 lbs of extra weight during weigh-in. Nonito wanted the fight so bad to proceed, he did not raise a howl in protest of this discrepancy.
Sadly for Donaire, it was a formidable disadvantage to go up against with. The guy was so big at fight night, he couldn't hurt the guy.
After the fight, Donaire learned it the hard way, that it was a mistake to disregard the handicap he was placed in as a direct result of the weight disparity.
*******
I hope this weight disparity does not diminish JMM's power and effectivity against PBF tomorrow night. That is when all the preparations and all the hardwork are put into action. It will be a shame to find that he can land the punches minus any damage whatsoever to PBF.
Floyd cunningly had just negated a ring rust disadvantage with superiority in size! How about that, Jr's brain at work even before the fight!
One can see a mismatch a mile away, and all the hollowed and meaningless value it comes with. Hoping this one isn't!
