Mayweather sticks it, remains true to the bad boy persona he portrays in public, in disregarding the 144lb weight limit.... anyway he has the "money" to pay off the fine, and whatever it is, for every pound of excess weight.
Fine or no fine... he must have wanted to be the bigger man in the fight so badly, that he ditched the catch-weight altogether , if there ever was one.
If it is OK with JMM, then he must be oozing with confidence at a level tht is alarmingly dangerous. Juan needs confidence alright, but the "over" variety... is a no, no!
Pretty Boy Floyd is the best there is in the business to capitalize from the smallest of advantages. He is unbeaten after 39 pro fights for a reason! How much more of this kind of an advantage?
*******
Nonito Donaire found himself in a similar situation over in his last fight. His opponent carried 4 lbs of extra weight during weigh-in. Nonito wanted the fight so bad to proceed, he did not raise a howl in protest of this discrepancy.
Sadly for Donaire, it was a formidable disadvantage to go up against with. The guy was so big at fight night, he couldn't hurt the guy.
After the fight, Donaire learned it the hard way, that it was a mistake to disregard the handicap he was placed in as a direct result of the weight disparity.
*******
I hope this weight disparity does not diminish JMM's power and effectivity against PBF tomorrow night. That is when all the preparations and all the hardwork are put into action. It will be a shame to find that he can land the punches minus any damage whatsoever to PBF.
Floyd cunningly had just negated a ring rust disadvantage with superiority in size! How about that, Jr's brain at work even before the fight!
One can see a mismatch a mile away, and all the hollowed and meaningless value it comes with. Hoping this one isn't!
Where was the big deal made? Where was the protest? Who said anything? Did the commissioner demand a re-weigh? Did Marquez sign the contract? You dont think that was planned? I have never seen a weigh in as nonchalant as that for someone who missed weight.. No one on the stage gave a fuck no one uttered a peep
Answer me those questions intelligently and i'll gladly give reverence to your usual slagging and shiit talk
Dont mouth off to me you prick, you disrespected a whole lot of people with your big mouth on this thread and I called you on it!!! So man up you eunuch and admit your fukwitted mouth went to far this time
Easy gents... let's not foul it up.
JMM wins, he deserves a share of the P4P with Manny. PBF wins he can win the P4P title... after beating the winner of the Pacquiao vs Cotto match!
Mayweather, Marquez weigh in | Fightnews - Boxing News Updated 24/7
Sorry guys but those who freaked out need to relax..
Contractual weight was the 147 pound welter limit, but penalties were written into the contract for excess poundage over 144. ”The penalty [for Mayweather] was a significant amount of money,” said Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer.
it was always a welterweight fight with a stop gap deterrent at 144, Floyd did nothing wrong
Floyd Mayweather Jr. owes Juan Manual Marquez $600K after weighing two pounds overweight - ESPN
Wow the plot thickens...Looks like Floyd wasnt going to make weight, called Golden Boy to feel it out and they got marquez contract back from the commission that read 144lbs and JMM initialed it for 147 the Welterweight limit and thats where the penalty came in fro every pound over the original agreed upon weight..
Thats a fukload of controversy for 1 day.. I dont see the weight being a big deal, Floyd dosent have an imposing style that is predicated on power. Should still be a very good tactical contest.
Quite a few beloved boxers couldnt make weight at one time or another. I wonder if its legit
I don't think he tried to make it. In fact I'm pretty sure of it. But seeing what he weighs tomorrow night will tell the story a bit. If he blows up (which he's never done) then it will be a sign that he had a harder time making weight than before. If he comes in 150 or so he just most likely said fuck it, I'm making 10 million, I feel stronger at 146.
And of course it matters, like I said, he obviously feels stronger and better at 146. Its just a question of how much it will matter.

Floyd will lose a fraction of his purse for them 2lbs but hey at least when Marquez comes round after being knocked the fuck out he has more money now![]()
I think the "shocked" expressions on their faces was just eagerness to see how much money they were taking from him. Serious, check Marquez, he looks gutted it was only two pounds, one more pound over he'd of got a mill. Unlucky.
Surprised a money obsessed man like Floyd would give up $600,000. I think he's looking for a big KO!!!
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
Marquez is the highest reward? I seriously doubt that especially since people have been crucifying Floyd since this fight was mad e about it. Marquez is the one who will get all the credit if he beats Floyd, if Floyd loses its over for him and Marquez is a very dangerous opponent. Hopkins had no issues moving up from 160 to destroy Antonio Tarver at 175 so we'll see what Marquez does.
Anyway Mayweather has nothing to gain and everything to lose, both Cotto and Pacquiao lose nothing if they fight each other. So it's barely a highest reward situation for Floyd. He'll get his highest reward after he beats Pacquiao after he gets past Cotto.
And you can't blame Mayweather. Pacquiao, and Cotto were both unavailable for this fight not only that but who else was there for Floyd to fight in his comeback. So who was left? If he'd fought Berto then people would just say Floyd was cherry picking a weak title holder. Who else was there? Shane Mosley? Shane was playing the money/draw game so I don't think that fight would have been made anyway. So who else at 147 is he to fight that would have been considered a risk? Marquez was a smart choice for the namesake and the comparisons to victories which people still won't compare.

I think Floyd looked in even better shape than when he fought Ricky Hatton and i still think he will go to stop marquez and im sticking with mayweather to stop him inside 6 rounds
