Kind of a catch 22 isn't it?

A.Stay where he is and fight guys that are too strong and too big, don't feel his punches.

or

B. Lose the 12-15 pounds of muscle, drop back down and Struggle with lighter guys because your body is literally eating itself and you have no energy. (RJJ Syndrome)

C. A fight somewhere in between might be best, at least for now. Relax (he's earned it) get back in the gym and see where his weight bottoms out at and make a fight closest to that.
