Regardless of how he gets fans buying - They seem to be buying. I'm not saying people enjoy his style but if they buy because of his big mouth or to see him lose then he is STILL a draw.

We may have to agree to disagree because all I'm seeing is figures show Mayweather fighting the same opponents with better figures.

Again, I'm not saying people bought because of his boxing but whatever their reasons, they bought and in bigger numbers than Pacquaio's fights with same opponents.

I'm assuming his fight with Marquez is going to do more numbers than both of Pacs fight with him too.

I didn't accuse you of being a Floyd hater dood. Was just after a decent discussion
Nah, not even agree to disagree... I guess we agree to a certain extent. I see your point BUT, for instance... Right now, if Floyd were to fight Josh Clottey... Would that be a PPV? He's a top Welter(of course, there'd be no reason for Floyd to fight him right now... But just for instance)Let's be more realistic though... Why would he pick a prime welterweight? How about Tim Bradley, Nate Campbell or Juan Diaz... All top Jr Welters... PPV material? Floyd's the draw, right? Maybe Andre Berto... He holds a welterweight belt... PPV material? Floyd could sell it, right?

Fact is that people bought this fight for the "what if" not for the "what"

Tyson, ODLH... These guys sold fights... These guys were "whats"... Floyd is a very skilled boxer and promoter that cons the public.

I will say that Floyd is amazing at what he does... He is a highly skilled defensive fighter to whom not many in history can be compared... But drawing power is drawing power... Hatton had it... Pac has it... Marquez has it... Cotto has it... Gatti had it...

Floyd is a name that people know... But most of the non-purist general public will never buy one of his fights after seeing one initially... Why would they?

I'm seeing what you mean Pride.

I guess it is difficult to say now how he would sell against a lesser draw because he isn't likely to fight one.

I would have definitely agreed with you up until the Baldomir fight - I don't think that fight did well but since the De La Hoya fight I think they've marketed him very well as being some sort of boxing god which gets people buying whether they like him or not.

Would be interesting to see if he went back to fighting a guy who was a bit of a no-name in the sport, whether the numbers would still be high.

This is true... He has been marketed well. He, on the cover, is a promotional wet dream... 5 weight div world champ... Undefeated in 40 fights... Wins over Corrales, Castillo, ODLH, Marquez, Gatti and Hatton... I mean, I see what you mean as well. His attitude is also provacative...

I would be very interested to see that as well... As I could be totally proven wrong. Love him or hate him, he's boxing royalty.
