Go for it!
You can't beat a few rounds of skipping, few rounds on the bags for working up a sweat and getting shredded and the satisfaction of pounding the leather!
Your muscle at the minute is probably a bit useless if your honest - sure you can bench a lot but the kind of changes your body will make by switching from heavy weight / body building will be massive.
You'll certainly gain a lot more useful muscle and stamina will be regained.
Boxing training is such a great thing, because you can do a lot of it anywear - the push-ups, shadowing, footwork and skipping... i always found the types of man in a boxing gym to be respectful and helpful (so long as your respectful and humble to !)
