Big props to Cris Arreola

Why are people ripping Arreola for crying? It's not like he broke down in the middle of the fucking fight and quit or something. He fought a tough fight, showed a ton of heart, and was justifiably upset when he was defeated. I don't see what the problem is.

So what if he'd likely dreamed of that moment since he was a child only for it to disappear... he's not a real man, not like the REAL men on this board who just in case you don't know, DON'T CRY. It's not like he showed any heart absorbing 300 punches from 250+lbs of pure muscle. He cried & he quit. I'll guarantee you none of the hard men who mock him would of done either. They're REAL MEN.

It's one of those great things about boxing forums. They seem to be a magnet for men who are a mix of Arturo Gattiesque boxing heart, a Charles Bronson like emotional state & generally have the courage of your average SAS commando.

That interview was something,thanks Lyle.Chris may mostly come off easy going,care free but this is eating him up.He seems a very tightly wound guy at times.Dude is all emotion,fighting ,interviews,whatever.Alot of guys mock some fighters for breaking down....myself included with Cintron,Ishe Smith....but really have no idea what runs through a guys head when the bright lights are all over the place and some knob is shoving a microphone in your bruised and battered face with the masses looking at ya.Some guys go out meek and maybe its easier to joke them but at the same time its that raw 24/7 emotion shown by other fighters like Arreola that makes us fans....Nigel Benn cried also and he's one of my top 3 all time favorites!?

In fairness to Cris Arreola, it is a very powerful thing. The range of emotions one goes through preparing for a fight is quite extreme. Not even including all the training.

You start your fight day off often with butterflies. Then get adrenaline rushes. Feel you can't lose. Then fear creeps in on you as the fighting hour approaches and you just want to run! Then the adrenaline again...over and over. And this range of extreme emotions continues, and cycles right up until the ref signals and the first punch is thrown.

I fought the same night as the Mayweather fight, and experienced all of that. I was on the winning side, and experienced the greatest feeling of happiness I've ever known, same one I feel any time I win. Gotta be better then any drug, ever.

But on the other side there is often a competitor who worked equally hard to get there, who went through all those same emotions before that first punch was swung. And they weren't so fortunate. Probably half of the fighters who lost on our card that night had tears in their eyes. Many were deeply sad, if even just briefly. If they weren't, then they probably weren't true competitors, warriors, or maybe snuck off somewhere else to do it, or are better at masking it.

I harped a bit about Arreola's tears, because I didn't think he worked hard enough in prep for that level of competition. Not for the emotion. And I regret it, and apologize for it. Who am I to judge how he prepares himself. And I certainly won't harp on him for his tears of disappointment. It's a powerful thing, stepping through the ropes. It can buckle the strongest of peoples wills.

So yea. Unless you have worn their shoes and walked the same path as they, it is probably best not to judge.

He just didn't have the hand speed or experience.

Arreola fought his heart out though, that's the point here. There is no way you can say he didn't give his utmost effort.

He was actually quite slim considering past fights and past pictures of him weighing 290 or so.

Even if he was a little flabby he had decent stamina, it was the first time he has ever gone past the 8th round and he did it vs Vitali Klitschko, that ain't easy.

Arreola is a tough, tough hombre and he showed it on Saturday night. I was impressed that Arreola never went down. Klitschko was just too much for him. Arreola needs to learn from this loss and use it as a stepping stool for his career. He has good days in front of him if he dedicates himself to his craft. He is a proven top tier heavyweight.

Same here Daxx, I'm sure he has earned a lot of fans from his effort last night. I hope he fights Haye in the near future (should he dispose of the hairy one), perfect match up in my mind.

I completely agree. That is an exciting fight in the heavyweight division. Hopefully, despite his losing effort, Arreola made more fans on Saturday night.

As good as a performance as you will get from someone with arreloa`s limited talent.

Genuinely gave it his absoloute all and you just couldnt help but feel sorry for him in the end as he genuinely had just hit a dead end and couldnt find a way past vitalis left jab.

Didnt like the interview at the end as even in the heat of the moment its very unprofessional. But all in all arreola earned a lot of fans from saturday night and i for one would now happily go out of my way to see him fight again!!
