I don't think Pacquiao really has a say in his corner, I think he would fight Cotto or MOsley at 147, but his trainer and promoter wouldn't allow that. IMO Pacquiao would face Mayweather, the guy is fearless and loves to go to battle, but I think deep in Freddie Roach and Bob Arum's hearts they know that Manny would lose to Mayweather. Mayweather not only matches Pacquiao in speed, but he far surpasses him in skill. In retrospect I am not sure if Mayweather is actually scared to fight anyone if the right money is available, I think he is a pussy for caring so much about just money, but as long as money is there I think Floyd believes he can beat anyone in the sport relatively easily(and he could be right). So if Mosley faces Berto like it looks like will happen in early 2010, and if the winner of Cotto-Pacquiao gains a lot of publicity then MAyweather will likely face the winner of either contest.

he took the fight with hatton because he saw flaws in ricky that werent there a few years back. The exact same thing has now happened with cotto

pac doesnt duck a challenge and never has. But his opponents are extremely well picked by arum

Had floyd of looked the slightest bit jagged towards the end of the marquez fight arum would already be making the calls right now preying pac gets through cotto so he can take out floyd

In light of floyds brilliance its just gonna be interesting if pac can find a way past cotto whether arum and roach will really put their money where their mouth is and stick pacquiao in with mayweather!!

Hatton didn't look flawed when he fought Paulie, I think PAcquiao's style was better suited against Hatton, and the version of Oscar that he faced. After seeing Mayweather-Marquez I have my doubts about where Oscar was in that fight with Pacquiao because his durability couldn't have been up there if he weighed less than Manny coming into the fight.

When Pacquiao uses a catchweight to weaken a fighter's chances I understand the criticism but I don't see anything wrong with capitalizing on any flaws you see in the IBO and Ring Magazine Junior Welterweight Champion who is undefeated at 140. So because you discover that he is succeptible to hooks while coming in you duck him and get more credit?

Duck mayweather ?!! Of course not. He'll fight him, and thanks to floyd himself giving us another 24/7 many will pay beliving PAC has a chance. Floyd will beat him like everyone else they both will cash their checks and we'll move on to the next " supposed " to be floyd beater. He'll it changes every week, margo ,cotto, whoever doesn't matter really. The only reason floyd came back was to make easy money beating these random guys fans pick as thier hero. Beating up on these small guys was just to easy to pass up.

If anybody were to duck anyone I would expect it to be Floyd doing the ducking, but if it meant "ducking" Pacquiao to fight Mosely then I would be more than happy. If it is to fight anybody else then Mayweather confirms all my worst suspicions and that he is indeed a hyena.

If Pacquiao demands 50% or more than he would clearly be ducking Mayweather.

Obviously the title is to get attention.

As stated in the original post, I think Arum (not Pacquiao personally) will want to avoid Mayweather in the event that Pacquiao wins.

I can kind of see him giving up Cotto, in the event he gets past Pacquiao, because Cotto is somewhat of a regional draw, bigger (as big as) than Mayweather, and isn't going to be ranked p4p #1 even if he does beat Pacquiao.

But I can't see Arum giving up Pacquiao to Mayweather. No matter how you slice it, Pacquiao will be outgunned (on paper), and Mayweather will be the odds on favorite for many boxing analysts even if the bookies don't agree.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but Pacquiao currently draws more than Cotto, and the fact that he'd be a smaller man going up against a bigger/more skilled opponent in Mayweather has to at least give Arum second thoughts about that potential fight.

I just have a feeling Arum is going to avoid this. I have a feeling he won't make mention of Mayweather any time soon and will price Pacquiao out so badly that any negotiations, if any, break down in their early stages.

If Pac beats Cotto the fight will definatly happen due to the high demand. Pac/PBF would do INSANE numbers.

I still say PBF will knock out or stop Pac before 9.

If arum really cherry picked foes for pac, then why did they agreed for a rematch with jmm? why did they allowed pac to fight hoya too?
and even when roach said hoya can't pull the trigger anymore before, then why was there still a huge consensus of fans making hoya a heavy favorite before the fight was even signed?
everyone was laughing thinking it was a huge mismatch, boxing analysts or casual fans alike. do you think arum did mind that? i bet some of you, if not most of you, thought arum was crazy for pitting pac against hoya before. i mean not even a half of us saw that coming, pac winning even a miraculous split decision against hoya before the fight was signed and came in to realization.
    show me a poll before the hoya-pac fight in any boxing website (except pacland, it's pretty obvious) that has pac winning against hoya on people's collective opinion. i bet there's none.yet even with that fuss buzzing around, did arum mind that? it's about the money weather his cash cow losses especially against the heavier boxers (like hatton, hoya,cotto, future shane or pbf.). the reason for that is the "prepared alibi" that even if pac losses to them they're heavier fighters,(which is true, pac is really a natural superfeatherweight for his size.) which doe'snt stain pac's reputation that much, allowing him to continue on being a cash cow fighting other popular names in a more "comfortable division" instead, if ever he losses. there's also other reasons;
1.) it's because of his style which makes pac likeable that can still rejuvenate his career if ever he loses to these bigger guys
2.) his almost cleancut superiority in the comfortable divisions (imo 135-140. who can you match pac with? bradley? juan diaz? holt? khan?pac can rip them apart and finish them off with a ko unless they're a superior technician in the league of jmm or pbf!)
3.) arum has other cash cows to be that can replace pac in the future! e.g.;cotto, juanma, valero if he clears his license in the u.s.!

in reality arum doe'snt give a fuck if pac loses to pbf because of the "prepared alibi." pac has already given enough "milk" to toprank, became the best p4p, defeated a bunch of hof'ers won the hearts of a lot of boxing fans and renewed others back to the sport. though i hate to see him losing to pbf, or hate to assert my ongoing theory that nobody can really beat pbf in this generation.
