I've just read the same thing. It seems that it is true, we even see a picture of Atlas removing one of Povotkin's glove.

Yes this is true. They did announce it about three or fight's before the end of the Friday Night Fight's season. Atlas was going to be "trying out" to be Povetkin's trainer and about a month later Povetkin said yes.
I like Teddy I think he is one of the very best trainer's around. It's really not his fault his fighter's are just weak minded. I liked Grant he started at a late age I believe 20 and Atlas was still able to make him into a championship caliber fighter.

It was in last months Boxing Monthly (I think). I just figured I missed the thread about it.![]()

...now don't get me wrong, I think Atlas is a very smart and funny guy, but to be honest I don't think he adds ANYTHING to Povetkin. What is he going to teach him the peek-a-booAlex is a small-ish heavyweight, he has a great amateur background, but he's lacking power, speed, and I think this is going to ruin all parties involved.
Although on the other side of the coin I think this move (if successful) might hype up Povetkin especially if he fought Wladimir because of his trainer being American and connected to another All-Time great trainer of a bygone era...that fight wouldn't be just Povetkin-Klitschko it would be Povetkin (Atlas-D'Mato) vs Klitschko (Steward-Futch).

Being a boxer, I wouldn't having uncle Teddy to train me as for his knowledges and aptitudes to teach me the proper thing for the right situation but I would damn fear that he might snap and get all crazy and dangerous at any moment.

The ESPN2 crew had a special night (Guillermo Rigondeaux showcase) about three weeks ago where they were talking about Atlas training Povetkin.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
