We..well the politicos mucked it up from jump off. I dont think the Bush administration and to a degree tha American public had the deep intention of truly doing what it would take and the patience to do it to render them impotent. The emotions and fury after 9/11 was manipulated and they pulled a fast one going into Iraq. The Military had its hands tied behind their backs, used as props and sent out to win 'hearts and minds'....sound familiar......rather than being let off the chain and taking the initiative.Know thats not a world wide view but you cannot have it both ways, its proving obvious. The scenario is becoming a mirror of Vietnam in many ways.Thought we would have learned fron the Soviet invasion, not to mention how our support and funding helped produce the ones we are now fighting. The catch 22 of fighting an entrenched force blended with civilians, trying to win it from the sky at points and an aversion to committing boots on the ground....knowing that more would not come home.It really is a fooked up situation which is coming home to roost right now.Canadians,Brits and Americans have increasing casualties not to mention the countless civilian casualties just trying to live day to day.The days of massed forces all wearing different uniforms, lining up in climes with a defined front line are looooong gone.....Its been 8 + years though, think the barn door is wide open and the situation has morphed into a hydra.
Take the gloves off, commit what is needed, tell Musharif (?) of Pakistan to piss off and stop the slow bleed, hit the Taliban leaders where we know they are..............or just cut the shite & bring them all home!!Honestly dont know if their is a 'winning' scenario...especially militarily. But we are knee deep in it now.Thats a fact.
