Don't know if he needs to hurt him but Mayweather has a knack for catching fighters with his speed even if he can't hurt them its a pucn they'll never see coming and I'm not sure Trinidad fought someone as quick as Mayweather. De La Hoya wasn't as fast or as defensively gifted and Trinidad seemed to go into a shell whenever De La Hoya boxed in flurries as he constantly had Trinidad's feet moving and Mayweather would do the same. Trinidad seemed like a "searcher" like he was always searching for The KO even when it wouldn't come. George Foreman said you can wait all day and then not have a title anymore, that fits Trinidad perfectly. Against Mayweather he would constantly be waiting for the shots that would stop him but he'd never get his feet planted to set them up or give them. Besides that Mayweather is good at avoiding left hooks.
Trinidad IMO was more of a took a while to get started type of fighter, but i agree, if Mayweather didn't let him get started he would probably cruise to a lopsided UD, but if he ever let up like he did DLH, i think it would probably come back to bite him in the ass, Trinidad didn't have someone as fast, but on that same note, Mayweather has never faced anyone as strong and accurate as Trinidad was at 147, i think it'd probably be a closer fight than many think, but i'd give a significant edge to Mayweather by points, just don't really see him ever stopping Tito
