That's if it is a real story anyway... I'm suspicious that he didn't try and phone her on speaker phone whilst he drove and try and explain a crazy cop was coming over and she could help him dodge a ticket by playing along... or if he thought a fake proposal would upset her then he could just ask her to pretend to be out or something, sick friend or something... if he did that then he wouldn't necessarily have to talk about the gag proposal or anything.

Maybe he just didn't care about her feelings or he just couldn't come up with anything... I was a right little bastard in school, I got quite good at thinking on my feet to either get out of or lessen the trouble I was in.

I guess he just probably didn't want to fuck with the cop anymore than he already had.

Yeah but imagine: 1) what if the guy has no mobile phone?
2) Trying to dial when the cops are looking in the back mirror ain't exactly a good idea. Neither it is to talk on the phone when you're stressed and going speed ahead like a madman to your house hehe

Anyway, real or fake, this is a real funny history and that would worth to make an episode of a t.v show including such scenes.

Very hard to imagine in 2009 a working man not having a mobile phone very unlikely even my grandma has a phone shes 79!!

Secondly his Mrs will be in his contacts he wouldnt need to dial her number manually couple of taps of the button he would be there. I think if I got myself in that situation the last thing on my mind would be the cop seeing me use my mobile whilst driving, id be in such a state I wouldnt actully give a fuck.
