Also the Showtime broadcast had Oganov being 5'9 not 5'6. That's worth noting because Dirrell is big, he's 6'2 and in the ring will look much bigger then Froch imo.
He's an inch taller than Froch and has less than half an inch in reach over him, hardly gargantuan.

Sorry, you're right, Oganov is just pushing 5 foot 9...

It was his most recent opponent, Derrick Findley who was 5 foot 6...

He might be stronger than two pumped up middle weights (arguably light middle in Derrick Findley's case) but he's not going ot be stronger than Froch, that's one thing you can count on.
Derrick Findley is the most musclebound guy you could ever imagine for that weight, I'd say 5'6 is a big stretch and no way he could get to that low of a weight. He's really stocky I covered his fight with Andre Ward he's a menacing dude. Could possibly make 154 but he's a big weight lifter I doubt he would slim down. That actually might be the toughest fight Ward has had as a pro I'd say he had more respect for Findley then he did Miranda. I never got to see the fight with Dirrell but Findley is always fun to watch, good solid fighter who can make up for the height disadvantage quick.

Anyways, the only reason I brought up Dirrell's athleticism is because like I said, Froch is ignorant. Really he is, he's been consistently ignorant throughout his whole career and like was mentioned earlier, when he talks about Dirrell half the time he's talking about Ward. There is a good chance that he can just be wowed by Dirrell. For Hattonthehammer, who's posts are always so eloquent, Dirrell's hand speed is A LOT faster then that of Pascal and Dirrell's. He operates on a different level in terms of speed and while he might not ever accomplish what Taylor did (he has by far the best resume of the tournament even if one wins out), he certainly is a hell of a lot faster.

I wasn't saying that Findley was fat, he's muscle bound but that doesn't make him a legit Super Middle.

From what I've seen of him, if he wants to remain pumped up and fight taller guys... then he needs to box like a short man, very poor footwork and balance against Dirrell.

Arguably that's down to Dirrell but I couldn't really see anything in particular that he was doing to make Findley stumble around THAT badly.... I'll rewatch it and see if I think it's because Findley is crap at the weight or if Dirrell's footowrk was just THAT good.

OK I just wanted to get it in there that I liked Derrick Findley as a fighter I didn't want to turn the thread in that direction. Also like I said I haven't seen that fight so I wouldn't know. He is a tough guy that's all I'm saying and he is exciting when matched properly (and while he gave Ward small trouble, he was still shutout and shutdown) he can be exciting.

See, did you not enjoy that? Anyways. Dirrell beats Froch, Derrick Findley or no Derrick Findley

Gotta disagree there. I think I had Darnell Boone just beating him.

No way Jaz I don't know what to say if you had that score I suggest rewatching. He got knocked down and gave away the rest of the round but there is simply no argument to be made that he lost 4 rounds of that fight. It was a shock (and a setback) but I think you may be a bit fuzzy on the memory

And yeah that was more difficult then the Findley fight regardless, he had Michael Jordan who had just signed him to an endorsement deal ringside for that one it was a lot of pressure but he didn't lose that fight. The crowd booed the decision but that's no determining factor. I thought he lost 1 round others gave Boone the round after too but certainly no more then that.

Well, maybe I will rewatch it, but I remember thinking when I watched it that Boone got jobbed, I definitely had more than 2 rounds for him. I'll youtube it later, but I know it wasn't a fight that Ward just dropped a single round

I think it was round 3 or 4 he got dropped, he lost that one then possibly spent away the next round. Boone wasn't really landing anything clean but he was firing from a ways out and trying to bully Ward who still hadn't regained his equilibrium. By the end of the round he had his rythym back. I think one judge had it 57-56 and that's about the closest it could have possibly been scored as Boone won at most 2 rounds plus the knockdown. I had it 5-1 but definitely a shakey performance still that happens.
