I don't think KOs are that important; remember only two fighters are going out in the first round and I doubt Taylor can recover from this.

KO's are 2 points, that's a pretty big deal IMO as far as making points for keeping the spots.

It would had there been a bigger pool of fighters but four out of six makes the round-robin stage little more than a brilliant bit of fun: You may be right however, it may help the one American fighter who is going to scrape through into the semis

Ko's are only 1 extra point not two. They are not important at all. As the top 4 qualify if you win two fights its mathematically impossible not to qualify.

If you lose two fights, it would be mathematically impossible to qualify I believe even with a ko.

So the ko points are just meaningless ultimately in terms of making it to the semi's.

Urm? The draw isn't split is it? You can qualify with one win so long as two fighters lose all three.

*edit* Even if the draw was split you could still win just so long as one guy in your half of the draw lost all three (and, obviously, your one win came against that guy) although I'm sure the draw isn't split.

I think the extra point for a ko is just a gimmick. I doubt it's mathematically possible to even make a difference to who the bottom to are, whether an extra point is awarded via ko or not.

Can somebody with a brain work that out for me?

Obviously mathematically if you win two fights you have to be in the top 4 it would be impossible not to be. If you lose two fights I guess it would be mathematically impossible to qualify whether you won that other fight by ko or not.

Maybe if there is draw it will make a difference but its highly unlikely.

Maybe it affects seeding the semi finals or something?

Still its clearly a pointless gimmick.

Well here's a simple scenario for you AA loses his next two another guy wins one fight by decision, Taylor loses all three, the extra point give Abraham the spot. See that wasn't hard was it?

The 2 points can make a difference. Let's say Abraham loses one of his next two fights, then wins the other on points. He will have a total of 3 points.

And let's say that another fighter wins all three fights on points, he as well will have 3 points. So Abraham gives himself a little breathing room.

And as well, it still gives Taylor a shot at getting back in the game as well, if he finds some way to knock out his opponents. It won't happen, but it still gives him that chance.

The 4 with the most points, goes on to the semi-finals. So yeah, maximizing the points, is the best shot for them.

It really is only one extra point for a KO -So three in total.

First off, its 2 for a win and 3 for a ko, so if he won his third he would have 5 points not 3.

My point is there are only six fighters and therefore 5 possible opponents.

Ok lets look at this. If two fighters lost all three then KO's wouldnt matter because the top 4 qualify so 1 win would qualify whether you won by ko or not.

I'm not sure if its possible mathematically though for 1 person to lose all three and two people to only win one. It probably depends on the fight draw but if Abraham loses his next two, then Im not sure if they could mathematicall somehow avoid fighting either each other or Taylor in any of the other two rounds, so one of them would have to win.

Remember there are three rounds and only six fighters, so certain results cannot happen. For example its mathematically impossible for more than two fighters to get a 100 percent record after three fights, its also mathematically impossible for three fighters to have all losses because two of them will have to fight each other.

Im not sure if its mathematically possible for either three boxers to finish on 1-2 or have one boxer on 0-3 and two on 1-2.

Alright, I had my points mixed up, I thought it was 0-1-2.
