I really would hate for him to fight on. All the world class fighters in and around light welter would stop a 2010 version of Ricky Hatton. What's the point in fighting lesser fighters just to finish his career with a win?

If he gets back into the ring he want to be motivated to do it and Mayweather and Pac would be for him to get revenge. In reality Amir Khan would be more realistic.

just what the sport needs another excuse for floyd to get out of facing shane or cotto.
let's guess what ellerbe will tell lil floyd..
"Listen if we go down to 140 and fight him nobody will be able to say we only fight smaller men, I mean we can even go to england and beat him up, because right now Euros are worth more than dollars."
Floyd will say
"I mean ricky hatton is a tough guy he has a whole country behind him and he deserves a chance to prove it a was fluke. The pacman fight was a fluke. He can trump all that by beating the man that dominated the man that basically beat pacman twice. I mean doesn't this make sense because it will make more money? Doesn't it Roger?"

I can't stand Hatton, but in his defence here he's taken out of context. The interview is on Sky Sports site and he only says Maywether when really pressed about how he'd rather avenge (almost hypothetically), not even comitted to continue.

Exactly. Hatton is pretty much done and he knows it with all his talk about going into promoting and doing stand up. He's trying to justify why he doesn'y need to box anymore. It's easier than saying "I'm probably done after that last showing".
He knows his best time to beat Mayweather has passed, and I have a hard time seeing him fight again.
