Re: Was the performance of B-Hop against Tarver enough to win over Roy?

You're damn right Tarver's style would give Roy problems no matter when they fought. And like I said before, you'd have a much better argument if Roy would have gotten KO'd in his first fight with Tarver, but he didn't, he won it outright, fair and square. He got KTFO in the rematch. Doesn't bode to well for Roy supporters saying he was 'over the hill.' lol
tarver's style wasn't anymore difficult than montell griffen's...tarver was just another lefty who would have gotten torn up by prime roy....everyone in the boxing world knows it...emmauel steward, merchant, hopkins, calzaghe, joe goosen, eric harding (and he fought both roy and tarver), only those that have done nothing but sit and wait for roy lose will not admit that at 36 years old roy was on his way out...actually the fact that roy won the first fight at 70% was great, the second fight was a well timed punch that four years ago roy wouldn't have even been there standing for...
So lemme get this straight....you're saying that roy only dominated boxing for 15 years because he hadn't fought tarver and johnson yet? because if believe that either one of them would have beaten prime roy or even roy before he went up to heavy...then you're lying to yourself and if you don't think the weight did something to roy...you can just look to hop-tarver fight for evidence....(again hop would have won, but not so easily had tarver not done rocky 6)
You know why roy was so tired in the first tarver fight? Cause he was getting hit with hard left hands thats why. Would it had been different a few years ago? Maybe but thats just speculation.Did the weight have something to do with it? Maybe but the weight didn't have anything to do with the second fight.Like i said losing weight don't make you move the wrong way against southpaws and thats what he did and that why he got knocked out.So to say it couldn't happen before is ridiculous cause he has always been moving the wrong way and lets not forget the first man to drop roy was a southpaw and he did it with a straight left which made roys legs give out.How did it happen? He was moving the wrong way. So i imagine if it was tarver in there who is a much better fight than de valle was.
The truth is roy was looked at as the best thing since slice bread after the ruiz fight. What i don't get is how a man can go from unbeatable to past his prime in 1 fight. That doesn't make any sense to me.But the truth is roy could have lost a step years ago but we would never know cause he made sure he picked fighters that played to his strengths.Like i said earlier roy has been smoke and mirrors since 95.But i don't want you to take this as disrespect to roy cause i think he was a great fighter but i always questioned his opposition but i didn't really care cause it was fun to watch roy. He had a mesmerizing style that people wanted to see no matter how good or bad the opponent was.
People like to say roy looked different in that first fight and when you look at it as a whole he did. But in the first rounds he looked like roy until he started getting hit.
