Woulda been a great fight. James Toney actually always said Mike McCallum was the best fighter he ever fought, and not RJJ, though this isn't surprising considering the bad blood between James and Roy.

I'd still probably have Jones Jr. winning it. I actually think he took Mike lightly.
Yea, Reggie Johnson gave James Toney hell too and even knocked him down, he also gave Tarver hell when he was 39, but Roy beat Reggie Johnson easily in his prime.

Anyway

Yes Toney would say when he's hyping a fight that there's bad blood between him and Roy, but ask him away from that he would say Roy and him are really friends. just like Roy and Hopkins
James actually made that comment after his fight with Jones Jr.

Toney HATED Roy with a passion for a good couple of years after their fight. He resented him, was jelous of him taking his p4p.1 post. It took him a while to get over that loss, the loss of his unbeaten record, his aura of invincibility.

I think they're cool now though. I remember right before James fought Ruiz he leaned through the ropes and touched Roy's fist (Jones was commentating for HBO).

About R. Johnson-Toney - yeah it was real close. Toney was still pretty inexperienced at top level. One thing you can say about Toney is he never ducked no one. Took on Johnson right after Nunn to my recollection. Thats balls.
