This time it looked like a mismatch, not even close. Johnson just didnt have anything this night.

The scores were closer in the second fight than they were in the first fight.![]()

I don't rate Dawson at all. He is a horrible, horrible fighter to watch. Another in the latest breed of dancing no contact fighters.
Dawson deserved the win as Johnson was just too old and unable to pressure him as much is neccessary.
Johnson can retire with his head held high, and Dawson will continue to be ignored by the general public.

I was cheering for Johnson but how could anyone, let alone two judges, score that 115-113?

Dawson is going to need a MUCH higher workrate if he wants Hopkins...hes not going to beat Hopkins fighting a Hopkins fight.

He has no sense of urgency. Does a little bit of this, a little bit of that, throws a jab, flurries hitting mainly the guard, poses a bit, dances again. He does everything but throw punches on a regular basis.
There is nothing to enjoy in watching a style like that. It's the whole Dirrell thing, these are the types of boxers that make watching boxing a chore sometimes.
The Angulo fight before that was superb. The guy brings it and keeps on throwing punches from all over the place. That's a style I can warm to a lot more. Angulo saved it from being all a waste.

Those are the ones who you wonder about when they eventually get pressed to the next level in action,he gets props for learning from 1st fight and putting a successful gameplan into motion. To me,the style and his mannerisms leave much to be desired...he simply coasts in there.Johnson was flat but over the second half still managed to land these small subtle left clips square on his chin. Not big shots but put a right behind it,combinations and his movement could be compromised, force him to stand ground where late round stamina and chin have caused problems. The man is very skilled, but I think he's still going sideways in career momentum. No spark, fire.
