Well I noticed the same for the Pac vs Hatton fight... General people I know all were saying Hatton has no chance, he is a B grade fighter compared to Pac..

In the end they were right, and would have went of thinking they were boxing geniuses... Being a casual fan, you have the luxury of just picking the most popular fighter and saying how you know that they'll win blah blah, then if they do, you feel great and knowledgable and tell your friends how you knew.. If it goes the other way, you just ignore it and move on to other things...

Boxing can always go any which way, so even a casual fan who knows nothing can pick a fight easily and beat someone who has been in boxing for 50 years and knows everything.....

Clearly the public knows Pac more well than they know Cotto.. Their is much more hype about Pac's acheivements and streak etc, so the general public can easily get behind that image and say he'll be this Cotto guy....

A fan in the know will take into accout much much more, and with fights like these, knowledgable fans will always be able to make good arguements for both because these are 2 champions who don't lie down easily and both have beat the challenges in front of them...

I think 50/50 is about what I would expect from a forum of boxing fans, and 80/20 from casual fans who go with the hype..... Then you get the semi boxing fans, who go AGAINST the hype just because they have seen a Cotto fight or 2 and want to prove the know more than the casual fans by picking who in general public is the underdog so they can prove they know more than everyone else...

But most people on here will admit you can't really KNOW anything, and anyone who claims to KNOW is usually just uknowledgable themsevles... Most of the time... Even when you come out and say there is absolutely no chance this person will lose, you still have a freakin 50% chance that you are going to be wrong...
